NCSS Volunteer Management Peer Mentoring Programme is a mentorship programme pairing new Volunteer Management Practitioners (VMPs) with Volunteer Management Champions (VMPs) for 6 months. During the introductory session on 21 September 2022, 14 mentors and 25 mentees started their journey of forging a strong bond of support and friendship towards building a close-knit volunteer management community.

Our partner Atom Global Consulting shared tips and tricks on effective mentoring and mentee relationship building.

Last week we delivered a 3-day workshop on building Emotional Intelligence amongst civil services in Kazakhstan. The workshop was attended by 31 people from different parts of the country. Happy to say that despite doing the in person workshop after three years, we received a 4.9 rating by the participants. A round of thanks to the Academy for trusting us, Reeta Nathwani and the participants.

I'd like to thank our team at Atom Global Consulting and our partnership with CNPL for kicking off another cohort of the S.T.A.R. Mentorship program for Singapore Institute of Directors (SGOOD) Alumni. This follows on the heels of one batch that commenced in 2019 and another one in 2020.

Living in Singapore, this is our small attempt at contributing towards the non-profit sector.

On 1 June 2021, NVPC’s Centre for Non-Profit Leadership (CNPL) launched the S.T.A.R. (Sense. Transform. Affirm. Reflect.) Mentorship Programme for the Singapore Institute of Directors’ SGOOD Alumni.

After piloting this initiative in late 2019 and the 2nd run in 2020, CNPL has paired 68 mentors and mentees. In our recent run, we paired another 18 mentors and 18 mentees.

Through this mentorship programme, CNPL aims to develop potential Board/Committee Members and Executive Directors by placing them under the guidance of professionals with relevant experiences in non-profit organisations.

We wish all mentors and mentees a committed and successful mentorship journey ahead. We thank the Singapore Institute of Directors (SID) for inviting CNPL to run the programme as part of the alumni members’ professional development. We also like to thank our programme partner Atom Global Consulting for the continued partnership.

Thank you CNPL for the special partnership of the recently completed STAR Mentorship program on Jan 27.

Our NVPC’s Centre for Non-Profit Leadership & Atom Global Consulting has successfully concluded the S.T.A.R. (Sense. Transform. Affirm. Reflect.) Mentorship Programme I on 27 January 2021.

As part of Tote Board’s Non-Profit Sector Transformation Initiative (TB-NTI), this pilot initiative was launched on 11 November 2019 where we paired 16 mentors & 16 mentees at the Executive Directors (or equivalent) level. In supporting the participants in this 1-year mentorship programme, we have organised regular check-ins and ran a virtual learning workshop on “Handling Emotions in Uncertain Times” in June last year.

The successful completion of this programme reaffirms the leaders’ commitment to share, learn, and develop on a personal and professional level. We like to thank Singapore Tote Board for their continued support in nurturing passionate and committed leaders for the non-profit sector.
