Listening is the work.

As part of our pro-bono Inclusive Inquiry programme, we spent three months working with SG Enable, Singapore's focal agency for disability and inclusion, to help strengthen community engagement on their social innovation platform.

We spoke with persons with disabilities, caregivers, and volunteers to uncover what really drives participation.

Throughout the process, here are a few things we learned: breadth of research matters, stakeholders can make or break a project, and listening deeply is the work, not just a phase of it.

At the INTERSECTIONS Conference, Grace Toi discovered a few of her blind spots in Product Management that challenged her to reevaluate her processes from a service design perspective.

Here are three reframes she came up with:

- We optimise the product. Customers experience the service.
- We design one journey. Customers arrive from many different places.
- Customers experience the seam - the in-between moments no one owns.

Can empathy be automated? Our founder Wendy Wong doesn't think so and neither do we.

At the INTERSECTIONS Conference this July, Wendy was reminded of an uncomfortable stat: 70% of complex change initiatives fail, and most of those failures come down to human friction, not bad data.

AI can transcribe a hundred interviews before lunch. But it can't sit in a room with a person. It can't catch the pause before someone answers, the nervous laugh, the five seconds of silence when a client finally names what's been holding them back.

In her latest piece, Wendy calls this practice "bearing witness" - staying physically present enough to notice what people feel, fear, and dream, not just what they say.

This shows up most powerfully in our accessibility work where true inclusion means witnessing how someone actually navigates a space that wasn't built for them, not designing from assumption.

As AI makes output faster and cheaper, human presence becomes the thing that can't be commoditised. If AI saves us time, we believe it should be spent with real people.
