Counting down one month time.

We have spent the past 3 years at Craig Road, seems a short stretch of road connecting Tanjong Pagar and Neil Road, proximity to Keong Saik and Duxton, we’ve witnessed the bustling scenes around us, as well as the saddening stillness during Circuit Breaker last year.

3 years time, sounded short for another office move, particularly to a smaller space and no more ground floor and road facing. But we absolutely feel the need for a change, if we so believe that it is the only constant.

The new space was a love-at-first-sight unit for both Kelvin and Frank, doesn’t matter it’s walk-up second floor, a tighter space; not just moving, we look forward to move into normality, the day of mask off without distance.

How different can the future officescape compared to pre-pandemic?
While we have experienced WFH, in which our homes have became our offices, would the future office become home-alike?
Multipurpose, an old school term; Activity Based Working, not new yet being affected.
What about Hybrid Workplace? A place is just as stagnant as it is without human interaction within it.
Exploring not just the space itself, but having an open mind to realise all kinds of possibility and potential.

The heart of shifts in the workplace is increased mobility. Unassigned Workdesk, Hot Desking, Activity Based Working, Agiled, Collaboration will still be the main key words for the future work place.

Circuit Breaker, KFR team sharing after first month of WFH.

Frank Chen, Director.

Picture taken on 7 May, exactly after first month of CB; driving on the road has never felt that 'leisure'. Our team has shared very relevant points and feelings towards this pandemic. Perhaps, i would just share a couple of most frequently mentioned saying during this period:

1. 沒有最荒謬, 只有更荒謬. Google translate: There isn't most absurd, only more absurd.

2. "CB period is way more busy than before." Unexpectedly busy with pitching; good news is that we have closed 2 deals, plenty of things to do while anticipating start-work.

3. Initiative - Be proactive to find out, to do something, to create. Be it there is opportunity during critical period (有危必有机), I would be keen to take risk, explore and create. There will be something new coming, hopefully able to publicise in July.

I won't thank this pandemic like some people do, that the pandemic led to CB has given people more family time or chances to do more/ new things. This pandemic has taken the lives of more than 300,000 globally, livelihood badly affected, lost job/ income, even domestic violence and more cases of depression. I keep my anger towards the country that caused this devastation and destruction, virus that was lab-modified, leakage, cover-up, falsify, slander and further complication. Nobody or country able to sue this country, except to name it Covid-19.

Circuit Breaker, KFR team sharing after first month of WFH.

Justin Low, Design Lead.

Life is full of uncertainties, surprises, ups and downs.

Nobody knows what will happen next; we have to live our life to the fullest.

Although we see obstacle ahead, or we are already in the difficult situation, we will face it and continue to fight it through.

During the crisis, it is just another challenge for human race; we might hurt badly, we might be lost, or our life might not be the same anymore. But, I believe as a human being we know how to adapt.

We should always look at a brighter side. There are new things get developed, new businesses, new skills, more personal time and reflection of yourself while we stuck at home, even nature/ earth start to heal itself with lesser human activities, isn’t these are the great things during a bad situation?

Trekking/ hiking is just like a journey of life, sometimes we will get lost, walk a longer route, caught in a bad weather; however, you get to see a different scenery. Be positive, continue and not giving up, one day we will walk out of the current situation and find a brand new route.

Whee Ng, Design Lead.

Everyone and everything plays an important role.

Sometimes we won't realize until we put them together.

I believe we can overcome this together.

Circuit Breaker, KFR team sharing after first month of WFH.

Kristine Nguyen, Office Manager.

Washing hands and keeping clean has never been more apparent in the face of Covid-19. An insignificant act has become the most important one during this period. It’s a wake up call to never take any little thing in life for granted. In the face of this mostly invisible enemy, we have been forced out of our need to socialize, any petty encounters have suddenly become so much... smaller.

Things might changed, however, humans are still humans, pretty sure many of them will be back to their old ways after the CB period. However for me, I might have found a renewed appreciation of life and its offers.

Circuit Breaker, KFR team sharing after first month of WFH.

Sharon Cheah, Interior Designer.

The COVID-19 pandemic around the world have reported more than 300,000 deaths. Some of frontline workers have sacrificed due to rescuing people with COVID-19. Everyday I follow the news about COVID-19, it is saddening to see the numbers keep increasing. Pray that the confirmed cases will go down before June. Besides, there are nuisance cases of people not wearing mask and confrontations with the public and authorities. It is our social responsibility to protect ourselves and others. We should wear mask the moment we step out of the house, keep safe distancing; other than buying food or necessities, do stay home, stay safe!
