[CLOSURE OF IMUNC 2025 REGISTRATIONS]

Due to overwhelmingly enthusiastic demand, delegate registrations for IMUNC 2025 have officially closed. Thank you for your strong support for the conference!

[CHANGE OF IMUNC 2025 DATE TO 10-11 JUNE 2025]

As the Hari Raya public holiday has yet to be confirmed, and as we would like to avoid a potential clash with the holiday-in-lieu on the 9th June (Monday), we have revised our conference schedule to ensure as many delegates can participate as possible.

Day 1 and Day 2 of IMUNC 2025 will now take place on 10th June (Tuesday) and 11th June (Wednesday) respectively. The Pre-Conference Training will still take place in the afternoon of 17th May (Saturday), and delegate signups will remain open until 14th March (Friday).

We believe this adjustment will ensure better participation and convenience for all delegates, and we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience.

📢 Signups for IMUNC 2025 are open! 📢

IMUNC 2025 will be held on the 9th and 10th of June. It will feature a wide variety of councils catering to delegates of all experience levels, ranging from the more traditional and beginner-friendly UN-based councils, to specialised councils, such as the Historical Crisis Committee.

School delegates who would like to sign up should approach their Humanities HODs or their Teacher In-Charge of MUNs. If your school has not been sent an invitation but would like to receive one, do reach out to [email protected], and we will be in touch with your shortly. More details can be found at the link in the bio.

As the academic year 2024 drew to a close, the Young Diplomats’ Society hosted Project ComMUNity, an annual training programme to introduce Model United Nations (MUN) to secondary school students across Singapore. This year, over 90 participants from nine schools participated in both online and in-person sessions. The programme culminated in a MUN simulation hosted at ACS(I) on 15 November. Participants put their newfound knowledge to good use, debating pressing human rights issues in the United Nations High Commission for Refugees Council.

Thank you to all the participants. We hope you had a fun and memorable time, and gained valuable insights into the world of diplomacy and international relations! We look forward to your participation in our upcoming International Model United Nations Conference in June 2025 to try out your newfound skills!

YDS has appointed a Junior Exco! This was done in view of changes to ACS(I)’s CCA policies, which would provide the Secondary School YDS members with greater leadership opportunities. This step forward will help draw the IB and Secondary School members closer, facilitate administrative matters, and more effectively address specific issues facing Secondary School members. Here are our Junior Exco members!

[Taher]
Taher is a Year 3 student with a passion for public policy and foreign relations, but he’s quick to confess that physics isn’t exactly his favorite subject. As a taekwondo black belt and a competitive shooter, he thrives on precision and strategy—skills he’s thrilled to bring to the MUN circuit.

Since stumbling into his first MUN conference at 13, he’s been captivated by the world of debate and diplomacy. In the B4 programme, Taher is excited to help new delegates discover the same thrill he found and can’t wait to see where their MUN journeys take them!

[Sathiya]
Sathiya is a Year 3 student in ACS(I), and has pursued his love for the humanities since young, currently taking the PCH subject combination. He entered the MUN circuit just a year ago, but has already developed a passion for MUN. He joined YDS earlier this year and looks forward to further contributing to YDS by joining the Exco as Assistant Director (Welfare).

Outside of MUN, Sathiya spends his time playing chess and football, with his idol footballers being N’golo Kante and Gerard Pique. He is a diehard Barça fan (Visca Barça!) In terms of music, although his friends make fun of him for it, he is an avid Swiftie, whilst also being a fan of Ed Sheeran. Sathiya hopes to improve the welfare of YDS, and hopes to improve the engagement of members during YDS sessions.

Project ComMUNity will be held on 7, 8, and 15 November this year. It aims to introduce MUN to those who are new to the circuit.

We welcome all secondary school students new to MUN to join us.

[IMUNC 2024 UNSC CHAIR REVEAL]

Lastly, meet our UNSC Chairs Keegan, Zachary, and Amber!

Keegan - Embracing his obsession for Starbucks and Chicha, Keegan is a Year 5 student who has yet to accept that he is truly overcommitted. Often chronically online, Keegan can be found binging Netflix shows or rushing to complete the 10 things on his to-do list at 4am. When he’s not dying in front of a computer screen, Keegan enjoys playing with his two dogs, or aimlessly wandering around Singapore with friends, having walked 21km from West Coast McDonald’s to East Coast McDonald’s because “why not”. Keegan looks forward to chairing all prospective delegates in council, and promises to make IMUNC as fulfilling as possible!

Zachary - With IMUNC 2024 being his third chairing experience, Zachary looks forward to an invigorating experience with delegates. A Year 4 student with a passion for the humanities, he can often be found wasting time searching for new places to eat with friends, playing casual football, and falsely labelling himself an ‘academic weapon’. Finding a balance between his CCAs and finishing his work, MUN has materialised as an interesting amalgamation of both social and academic waffling. Zachary hopes for gripping discourse during IMUNC 2024, and hopes all delegates remember that the best is yet to be.

Amber - Amber is a year 6 student in ACS(I). Taking the BCMe course, she doesn’t really have time for anything else. However in her free time she can be seen hanging with her adorable dog or listening to music. Amber eagerly anticipates the thrilling debates and discourse ahead, and of course meeting all the dear delegates.

[IMUNC 2024 HOC CHAIR INTRO]

Order! Introducing the Chairs of the HOC - Sun Han, Ephraim, Sanjaye, and Swaroop!

Sun Han - Sun Han is a Year 5 student in ACS(I) who has come to terms with the fact that the prospect of crisis councils are the only thing keeping him in the circuit. In his free time, Sun Han can be found gaming, drawing and figuring out how to progress beyond the opening riff of Hysteria on his bass. Still hoping that he will magically overcome his hatred of Math this year, Sun Han hopes that the IB workload gods will be merciful (he is deluded). Sun Han looks forward to seeing the exciting debate in council and wishes all delegates a warm welcome to the HOC!

Ephraim - Ephraim rejects the STEM-Humans dichotomy. You can find him over analyzing Margaret Atwood’s poetry on a Tuesday afternoon, while cramming the Krebs and Calvin cycles, and reading up on Cushing’s Triad. Hence, despite his triple science background, Ephraim enjoys MUNning.

To him, MUN is an intense strategy game that keeps you on your toes. He appreciates the beauty in the deadlocked debate between opposing blocs (or parties), near-impossible negotiations delegates engage in and the unprecedented updates your chairs ambush you with.

Of course, all of this is in good fun. At the end of the day, it’s not about the BDs, but the HMs (happy moments) that truly matter. He hopes that MPs will create those HMs at IMUNC HOC.
