Thank you to everyone who joined us for the webinar “Beyond Compliance: The Role of Internal Audit in Impact Reporting” on 10 September 2026.

The discussion brought up an important point that impact reporting is not just about the story being told, but how well that story can be supported. How impact is defined, measured and evidenced matters, as do the governance and controls behind it.

For internal audit, this means looking at whether the information reported is supported by sound processes and reliable evidence, and whether the right checks and accountability are in place.

A big thank you to Uantchern Loh and Sarah Ann Loh for sharing their perspectives and to everyone who took part in the discussion and raised questions during the session.

When something goes wrong, the instinct may be to act quickly. But what if the better approach is to think like an investigator?

In our latest blog, “Same Problem, Different Language: How Investigative Skills Translate to Tech Risk”, IIA Singapore member Rayson Tan explores how investigative skills such as separating facts from assumptions, asking the right questions and following the evidence can also be applied to technology risk and other complex situations. These skills help internal auditors navigate uncertainty, challenge assumptions and make evidence based decisions.

Fraud is not just about the opportunity. It is also about the decisions people make.

At the IIA Singapore Fraud Symposium 2026, Alywin Teh from PwC Singapore will take a closer look at this question in his session, “Beyond the Fraud Triangle: Exploring Behavioural Decision Science for Fraud Risk Management.”

As AI and technology continue to change the way fraud is carried out, understanding the human element remains just as important. Why do people make certain decisions? What organisational conditions can make misconduct more likely? And how can these behavioural insights help organisations spot potential fraud hotspots before they become bigger problems?

The session will explore how behavioural decision science can complement traditional fraud risk management approaches and provide a different lens for identifying and addressing fraud risks.

Technology is part of almost every business process today. For internal auditors, that means understanding the technology behind those processes is becoming just as important as understanding the processes themselves.

But IT auditing can feel like unfamiliar territory, particularly for auditors who do not come from an IT background.

The course, "Fundamentals of IT Auditing" provides a practical introduction to the core concepts, from IT general controls, change management and logical security to application controls, end user computing, cloud computing and disaster recovery. It also looks at how these areas come together when assessing technology related risks and controls as part of an audit engagement.

A useful starting point for building confidence in the IT side of internal audit. Learn more and register. https://tinyurl.com/mrxrn6x5

AI can help with many parts of an internal auditor’s work, but the quality of the output often depends on how the question is framed.

The latest resource, “AI Prompting for Internal Auditors” is designed to help internal auditors make better use of AI through practical prompting techniques and audit focused examples. It also highlights an important point: AI can support the work, but professional judgement still matters in deciding what to ask, how to use the output and what to do with it.
