20 August 2024. At the HQ of Georgia International Road Carriers Association (GIRCA) in Tbilisi, with President Gia Tsipuria and Secretary General Prof Nino Chkheidze. We were joined by the Secretary General of Dr. Zurab Shengelia, Secretary General of Association of Freight Forwarders of Georgia. It was a god discussion on the Middle Corridor and the role of road transport operators.

SCMi and GIRCA has concluded a MoU in 2023 and there are many ongoing collaboration. This has been one of the best partnerships for SCMi, as the Middle Corridor continues to attract attention from policymakers, private investors and NGOs.

The Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program
23rd Meeting of the Customs Cooperation Committee (CCC) is held at Astana, Kazakhstan on 15-16 August 2024.

At the CCC, Max Ee had the chance to present on Corridor Performance Measurement and Monitoring (CPMM)- Progress Update. This initiative by Asian Development Bank started in 2010 and analyzed the corridor efficiency across 11 member countries.

The CPMM is now undergoing a new phase of refinement. New route selection, additional information on border-crossing points and trade facilitation are added. The next meeting in Q4 2024 will review the preliminary findings.

Брифинги о перевозках на территории Грузии и Турции и возможности портов Батуми и Мерсина. Морские порты выступают в качестве важнейшего узла, обеспечивающего мультимодальные перевозки.
Визит для встречи с руководством портов и операторами терминалов поможет определить возможности сотрудничества с морскими портами.

Maritime collaboration.

Singapore’s port authority and China’s Shanghai Maritime University (SMU) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to support talent and academic exchange between the two countries in the maritime sector.
