We are glad to be back at Tanjong Katong Girls’ School for the fourth year, training Secondary 3 students on projecting a positive impression. Due to the current situation, contents addressed to managing online interviews. We shared pointers on online etiquette, establishing eye contact, positive body language and how to do present oneself on screen.
As trainers have to wear face masks, we were mindful on how to deliver the sessions effectively. 3Ps on how to build rapport with learners while wearing a mask.
1. Personalised introduction. A short video introducing yourself highlighting work experience, achievements and hobbies allows learners to get to know you quickly.
2. Positive gestures. Smile with your eyes, maintain eye contact and wave when greeting people to create a friendly learning environment.
3. Practice your “mask voice”. Speak up but don’t shout as masks have a muffling effect. Use different intonation to avoid monotony.
