AirlineRatings, the only global safety and product rating website, combines major safety and government audits with 12 key factors, including fleet age, passenger reviews, profitability, safety rating, product rating, innovation, and forward fleet orders.

Topping the chart for 2024 is Qatar Airways, named the airline of the year due to its superior service and innovation. This positions Qatar Airways ahead of former champions like Air New Zealand, which led the list in 2023.

“In our objective analysis, Qatar Airways excelled in many key areas, although the scoring was very close for the top five,” Geoffrey Thomas, editor-in-chief at AirlineRatingsdotcom, stated in an interview. “Qatar Airways won due to very positive passenger reviews across its business class and economy cabins.”

This year, Korean Air secured second place, followed by Cathay Pacific Airways (third), Air New Zealand (fourth), and Emirates (fifth).

In addition to the overall ranking, AirlineRatingsdotcom awarded airlines in various categories. Qatar Airways was named best business class for the fifth consecutive year and best catering.

Naqa’a, one of the world’s largest desalination projects, can supply water for 2 million UAE residents.

Built by Etihad Water and Electricity, Mubadala, and ACWA Power, the project produces 150 million gallons of water daily.

Located in Umm Al Quwain, it serves northern regions including Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, and Ajman.

CEO Eng. Yousif Al Ali highlights its importance in meeting water demands and supporting UAE's water security vision.

The plant, part of the National Water Security 2036 strategy, meets WHO standards for safe drinking water and employs eco-friendly SWRO technology.

Future plans include technological upgrades and expansions to meet growing demands and ensure efficiency.

DEWA progresses on the 950MW fourth phase of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, a $4.2 billion project set to power 320,000 residences and cut emissions by 1.6 million tonnes yearly.

The phase integrates three hybrid technologies, including the tallest solar tower and largest thermal energy storage capacity globally.

DEWA, ACWA Power, and Silk Road Fund form 'Noor Energy 1' to develop the project, supporting Dubai's energy transition goals.

The solar park aligns with DEWA's initiatives to increase renewable energy share and implement energy storage projects like pumped-storage hydroelectric and Green Hydrogen.
