Tax Filing Deadline moved to July 15

This morning, U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin announced via Twitter: “At ’s direction, we are moving Tax Day from April 15 to July 15. All taxpayers and businesses will have this additional time to file and make payments without interest or penalties.”

Despite the shutdown, the IRS has confirmed it will start to process Tax Returns from January 28th 2019.

Reminder final estimated payments for 2018 are due on January 15th 2019. For those taxpayers living in the US returns must be filed by April 15th 2019. For those of you overseas the extended deadline is June 17th 2019.

IR-2019-01, January 7, 2019 ― Despite the government shutdown, the Internal Revenue Service today confirmed that it will process tax returns beginning January 28, 2019 and provide refunds to taxpayers as scheduled.

The IRS is currently on Shutdown. A date for the opening of the 2019 Tax Filing Season is yet to be announced.

The administration hasn’t yet said when a tax-filing season will start or whether it will change its guidance on refunds.
