This is an unusual year, and yet we need to continue to build our skills and knowledge base to be able to help clients in need. This year, we will have a socially distanced online conference broken up into 4 bite-sized online forums to make them more easily processed. The first will be a Forum on "Tobacco Harm Reduction - Myths and Reality" on the 26th September 2020, with the next 4 being Forums

on Alcohol, Substance Use, and Sexual Compulsivity. In this Nicotine Forum, we examine the use of new ways to overcome nicotine dependence, including the use of e-cigarettes and, heat not burn technologies. Under the microscope will be various policies that different counties have taken in their approaches and their effects on reducing the harms caused by smoking. We have sourced for really good keynote and panel speakers, so do hope that you can join us on this learning journey.

For too long, trauma and addiction care has been stuck in a cycle of symptom management. πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

We are trained to look at the pathology - what is "wrong" with the person, rather than focusing on how to build sustainable, long-term wellness.

It is time to shift the clinical paradigm. ⛓️‍πŸ’₯

The Asia Pacific Behavioural and Addictions Medicine Conference (APBAM) 2026 is proud to announce Dr Robert Rhoton as a Keynote Speaker. βπŸ’Ž

As the CEO and founder of the Arizona Trauma Institute, Dr Rhoton is a global pioneer in trauma care. He is the architect of the NeuroAffective Coherence framework, a structural guide used internationally to enhance the efficacy of mental health modalities. A Fellow of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, his career spans decades of clinical supervision, juvenile justice programming, and academic leadership.

In his keynote address, "Why We Need to Move Beyond the Pathology Lens in Treating Trauma and Addiction," Dr Rhoton will challenge traditional symptom-focused models. He will outline how practitioners and agencies can transition toward Salutogenic (wellness-focused) care, equipping clinicians to foster true resilience in their care delivery with the individuals and support groups.

If you are a counselor, clinician, or a care professional looking to optimize your trauma-informed service delivery, this session will provide a foundational shift in how you approach behavioral science and recovery.

Join us in Singapore to connect with the leading minds in behavioural health.

For decades, the standard response to substance-related offending has leaned heavily on punishment and deterrence.

But the evidence is clear: these traditional approaches often fail to address the root drivers of addiction, leaving both individuals and communities vulnerable.

It is time to re-evaluate how the justice and health systems handle addiction-related harm.

The Asia Pacific Behavioural and Addictions Medicine Conference (APBAM) 2026 is honored to welcome Prof James Ogloff as one of the Keynote Speaker. βπŸ’Ž

With over 40 years of experience spanning forensic hospitals, courts, and community mental health, Prof Ogloff is one of the world’s foremost authorities at the intersection of mental disorder, substance misuse, and criminal offending.

He is the University Distinguished Professor of Forensic Behavioural Science at Swinburne University of Technology and a Member of the Order of Australia, recognized globally for his contributions to forensic psychology and the law.

In his keynote address, "Transformative Justice and Addiction: Re-imagining Pathways to Healing and Community Safety," Prof Ogloff will draw on critical research in criminology and addiction science. He will outline actionable frameworks to move beyond punitive measures, integrating treatment and accountability to treat the underlying trauma and mental health vulnerabilities that drive offending behavior.

If you work in public health, criminal justice, forensic psychology, or policymaking in the Asia-Pacific region, this session offers essential, evidence-based models for reshaping how we approach rehabilitation and community safety.

Join the conversation in Singapore and connect with the leaders driving systemic change.

We are living in an era of unprecedented access to high-dopamine rewards.

From the endless scroll of our feeds to constant digital connectivity, our brains are struggling to keep up with an environment built for compulsive overconsumption.

How do we treat this modern epidemic?

The Asia Pacific Behavioural & Addictions Medicine (APBAM) Conference 2026 is proud to announce our Keynote Spotlight: Dr Anna Lembke! ⭐🌟

As a Stanford University Professor, psychiatrist, and leading global expert in addiction medicine, Dr Lembke has fundamentally shifted how we understand the neuroscience of pleasure and pain. You likely know her as the author of the New York Times bestseller "Dopamine Nation", or from her eye-opening insights in the Netflix documentary "The Social Dilemma".

In her exclusive APBAM 2026 keynote, "Dopamine Nation: Finding Balance in the Age of Indulgence," Dr Lembke will break down the mechanics of tech addiction, dopamine regulation, and practical clinical strategies to help patients reclaim their mental health in a hyper-connected society.
