Our newly published study, an expanded version of my master’s thesis on environmental phytoremediation technology, shows that exogenous nitric oxide (via the NO donor sodium nitroprusside) significantly enhances cadmium accumulation and stress tolerance in alfalfa (Medicago sativa), highlighting a promising biochemical pathway for the remediation of heavy-metal-contaminated soils.
As an important bioactive signaling molecule, nitric oxide (NO) participates in the responses of plants to various environmental stresses.
