Attended a SP Turn-On Inspection of an industrial unit, because owner has had electrical woring experience before so he did his own unit’s wiring.
However, Main DB has incomer using 16sq-mm for 63A 3-ph which is correct. But outgoing he uses only 10sq-mm cable. Thus such obvious mismatch is a no-no.

Your appointed LEW must go through one or even more rounds of internal inspection and testing to ensure SP Turn-ON goes well, first time.

Improper heater wiring caused boy's death while showering.

Although in Singapore, home electrical circuit is not required to be inspected by LEW by regulation, it is good to carry out ELCB strip testing on your own regularly.

It is as simple and safe as pressing the trip button on the ELCB to Ensure the ELCB trips and working. If it doesn’t trip, it is faulty and need to be replaced by an electrician.

In this case poor workmanship of improper tightening of both neutral and earth terminal causes heat generation, and melted both terminals and fused together. When that happen, returning current path is leaked to earth stated in report as 0.95A.

A working ELCB would have trip at 0.03A.

So start your own trip test now to check your home electrical safety by pressing the ELCB strip button to see if your ELCB is working or not.

The improper wiring of a water heater to a three-pin plug by workers unlicensed to do electrical work after a Housing Board upgrading programme was behind the death of a 15-year-old boy, who was electrocuted while showering.. Read more at straitstimes.com.
