⏰ How much time can you *actually* save with a Design Sprint?

Hard facts here: 👇

‘Saving time’ is a concept that’s thrown around a lot. And your stakeholders want numbers.

Let’s look at a rough estimate of the traditional product development process:

💡 Ideation: 1 month
🔍 Market research & competitor analysis: 3 months
🛠️ Development & iteration: 6 months
⏳ Margin for delays: 3 months

Half a year before starting to refine features and optimize the product.

A full year before going to market and collecting real insights and data.

Design Sprint provides a condensed version of a chunk of this process in just 5 days, and massively speeds up the rest.

Total time saving? At least 9 months in total. 😱

Or had to book a flight on a travel website, only to find that the mobile app and the desktop site have entirely different features, forcing you to switch between them just to complete your booking? 😤

Many brands are in a panic as the stock market continues to drop. 📉💥

With no end in sight, it seems like the obvious choice to hunker down and wait it out.

But some of the top minds in the business are advising otherwise.

Liliana Caimacan, MBA, has developed a strategy for innovation that she believes will help brands stay afloat during these tough times.

✨ 70/20/10 Rule of Innovation ✨

The rule states that 70% of resources should be focused on the core of the business, 20% should be used for projects close to the core or "future core," and 10% should be saved for transformational innovation.

This approach allows companies stability and room to experiment without putting all their eggs in one basket.

By focusing on driving consistent growth and innovating around their core offerings, brands can weather this storm and come out stronger on the other side.

❗️Prioritizing innovation today is the key to unlocking post-crisis growth.❗️

So if you want your brand to thrive in uncertain times, make sure you're also focusing on innovative projects that will set you apart from the competition.

What is one metric you need to find and then care a lot about?

✨ It's called a 'north star metric'. ✨

When it comes to finding and caring about your north star metric, there is no room for compromise. It's essential to have a number that accurately captures the success of your product.

Many companies make the mistake of focusing on vanity metrics, measures that look good on paper but don't actually reflect the real value of their product. This can be extremely dangerous, leading you astray from your ultimate goal.

So how do you find your company's north star metric?

There is no one-size-fits-all answer, but here are a few tips:

1) Start by understanding what your customers really want from your product. What problem are you solving for them?

2) Drill down into what matters most to them and find the key metric that reflects this.

3) Make sure this number is easily trackable so you can constantly measure and improve its performance.

Keeping your north star metric in mind is essential to ensuring long-term success for your business. So make sure you choose wisely and stay focused on what matters most!
