💶 FINANCIAL MEANS FOR RESIDENCE

“How much money do I need in my bank account for a residence application in Slovakia?”

The required amount depends on the purpose and expected duration of residence. For many applications, the amount is calculated using the current subsistence minimum in Slovakia.

From 1 July 2026, the subsistence minimum increased to €295.22. This means that for a residence period longer than one year, the required financial means may be calculated as:

12 × €295.22 = €3,542.64

A bank confirmation issued before 1 July may show an amount that was sufficient under the previous calculation but is no longer enough after the increase.

To avoid delays, it is safest to keep a small reserve in the account and request a new bank confirmation shortly before submitting the application.
