Anorexia nervous.
Anorexia nervous is an eating disorder and a serious mental condition.
People with anorexia have problems with eating. They are very anxious about their weight and keep it as low as possible by strictly controlling and limiting what they eat. Many people with anorexia will also exercise excessively to lose weight.
It is thought that people with anorexia are so concerned about their weight because they : Think they are fat or overweight Have a strong fear of being fat Want to be thin.
Even when people with anorexia become extremely underweight, they still feel compelled to lose more weight.
Though people with anorexia avoid eating food whenever they, they also develop an obsession with eating and diet. For example, they may obsessively count the calories in different types of foods even though they have no intention of eating them.
Some people with anorexia will also binge eat - that is, they eat a lot of food in a short space of time. They then try to get rid of the food from their body by vomiting or using laxatives medication that causes the bowels to empty, normally used for the treatment of constipation.
There is uncertainty about the cause of the disease but the following play a part
:
1. The disease is mainly encountered in the western world and is more common among women in certain professions, such as models and ballet dancers.
2. Puberty, relationship problems, bullying, about and I other life stresses are all believed to be potential triggers of anorexia.
3. There may also be peer pressure to lose weight .nast comments from others about weight that trigger dieting or an unrealistic expectation of what a normal body weight should be.
4. Personality traits of those at risk include a tendency to depression and anxiety, a poor reaction to stress, perfectionism, inhibition and absessional or compulsive feelings.
