The two-day Roundtable on Decentralized Implementation of Social Protection in Somalia concluded this afternoon in Mogadishu.

Federal, state, and district leaders discussed coordination, institutional roles, systems, and next steps to strengthen decentralized delivery of social protection services, building on lessons from the CSSP programme.

The Social Protection Strategies were developed by Tropical Consult and , with support from UNICEF Somalia, supporting stronger and more inclusive social protection systems in Somalia.

The dialogue brought together the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (MoLSA), Social Protection leadership from Jubaland, Southwest, Hirshabelle, and Puntland, district representatives, and development partners to translate lessons from the Child-Sensitive Social Protection (CSSP) programme into institutional and operational practice.

The roundtable is organized by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (MoLSA) with technical support from Tropical Consult in partnership with , and with the development of the Social Protection Strategies supported by UNICEF Somalia.

Discussions brought together MoLSA (FGS), Social Protection Directors and Director Generals from Jubaland, Southwest, Hirshabelle, and Puntland, district representatives from CSSP target areas, and development partners to reflect on lessons from the Child-Sensitive Social Protection (CSSP) programme and advance decentralized delivery systems.

Key Day 1 focus areas included:
- Roles and responsibilities of FGS, FMS, and districts
- Governance and institutional arrangements for decentralization
- Systems and data integration (USR & SPDS)
- Strengthening vertical coordination across government levels
