How it all started Suri-Fish Farm :
The Farm is located in Commewijne ,a district in Suriname. The farm was established in May 2014. The location where the farm is located used to be a sand mine, the sand mined in this area was sold to the local government to use for the rehabilitation of a road called East-West connection. The East-West is the main road to the head to and from the city to the various locations like Albina, which brings you to Sint Laurent, French Guiana. The craters created by the mining of the sand where transformed into natural basins for the cultivation of various sizes of the Tambaqui. The basins were filled with fresh water, were the fish are released and monitored. The water is regularly tested to guarantee the highest quality. The farm is approximately 150 acres and has now 6 basins. We also have 3 small pounds for farming of the larvae’s and fingerlings, and three large pounds for farming of the fingerlings until they reach the size or weight of a minimum of 1 Kilo. Biological Feed and feeding process:
Our fish are only being fed with special feed which we locally produce or import for this specific type of fish. We strive to be a BIO farm, so the ingredients that are being used for the feed are all biological and do not consist of any anti-biotic other non-biological ingredients. The ingredients used for the feed processing differ from size to size. The feed is being mixed and blended and then pressured into pellets. They are being fed a minimum of twice a day depending on the weight and the rapid speed of their growth.
