Vandaag is het 134 jaar geleden dat mijn overgrootmoeder als javaanse immigrant in Suriname aankwam op het schip Sembilan. Gelokt naar het strand met een list en beloftes voor een beter leven op de plantages in Suriname. 134 jaar geleden gerukt uit haar bekende leefomgeving, van haar familie, van haar geliefde en van haar vrienden en kennissen. Niet wetende dat dit de start zou zijn van een nieuwe bladzijde in onze familiegeschiedenis, die nog steeds onvoldoende bekend is bij haar nazaten. Een trauma? of een moment om cirkels te doorbreken? Vandaag sta ik stil bij deze minder mooie en mooie momenten. Simba Sarkamah (Bok Sakamah), onze geschiedenis start bij jouw en ondanks wij veel niet weten, eren wij jouw als de bron van ons leven. En zijn wij dankbaar voor de offers die jij hebt gebracht. Aku seneng karo kowe (Ik hou van je). Vandaag 134 jaar javaanse immigratie in Suriname, de start van nieuwe families, nieuwe herinneringen en het doorbreken van traumatische ervaringen in onze generatie en de generaties erna. Laten wij onze familiegeschiedenis meer delen en bespreekbaar maken. En dankbaar zijn dat wij dit vandaag mogen herdenken. Dat is mijn wens voor deze bijzondere dag. En voor degenen die zich afvragen waar mijn eigenwijs gedrag vandaan komt, check de foto van mijn overgrootmoeder die haar nummer dichtmaakt, omdat zij geen nummer wilde zijn✅️😉💪🤩❤️

What have I been doing these days?🤩🌟 Increasing my communication knowledge and skills, lecturing, coaching & training. Grateful to share communication knowledge & my experiences. I can't share everything, but I'll give you a sneak peak. Last month lecturing in person in Gent Arteveldehogeschool. This month online, supporting the Peacebuilders Program of Interact club of Paramaribo. And today, supporting the Suriname Model United Nations (SUMUN) program in Suriname of Rotary Club of Paramaribo.

I'll share 7 of the 11 take aways for effective communication:
✅️Become best friends with ANNA, NIVEA & L*D (never assume anything, keep asking questions to validate information, do your research and also document!)
✅️ Know your audience for the correct approach
✅️ Use the Multi Culti Principal: making connections based on personal values
✅️ Be authentic, Be you!
✅️ Respect the rules/codes of each environment/society
✅️ Emotional? Use the 36-hours Public Relations rule, to get you out of the emotional atmosphere, to think clear and make good connections
✅️ Be consistent in your communication: repetition & frequency

In the end effective communication is all about Recognition🌟 leaving no one behind in your communication & respect the audience, and of course Credibility🌟, it is important who the sender is, is he or she trusthworthy? & can we verify this information?
