🚨Biden Allows Ukraine to Strike Russian Territory with US Arms

🚨New reports say that US President Joe Biden has allowed Ukraine to use American weapons to conduct strikes inside Russian territory.

🚨So far, all western weapons supplied to Ukraine came with a limitation:

🚨Ukraine could not use them to attack Russian soil.

🚨But the latest Russian offensive on Ukraine's second-largest city, Kharkiv, has forced Kyiv's western allies to rethink their stance.

🚨In early May, the UK gave Ukraine permission to use its weapons to strike Russia.

🚨Britain was followed by France and Germany who made similar announcements.

🚨Now, it seems the US has also untied Ukraine's hands.

🚨But how will Russia react to this latest escalation?

🚨Jacob Zuma's MK party is emerging as the third-largest.

🚨The African National Congress is now expected to turn to smaller parties for support in the national assembly.

🚨For now, Zuma's MK party has ruled out a coalition with Ramaphosa's ANC. What's interesting to see is how political alliances shape up in South Africa.

🚨Trump, the first US president convicted of criminal charges, is set to be sentenced on July 11, just days before the Republican convention, where he's expected to be nominated for 2024.

🚨Donald Trump called the verdict "rigged" and "disgraceful," telling reporters, "The real verdict is going to be November 5th by the people."

🚨An attorney representing Trump has said they would appeal as quickly as possible.

🚨The Biden campaign slammed Trump, saying, "We saw that no one is above the law."

🚨Three criminal cases are still pending against Trump.

🚨Nigeria has a new national anthem.

🚨Yesterday, Bola Tinubu celebrated one year as president by changing Nigeria's national anthem to its original one, which was first adopted in 1960.

🚨The original anthem was controversial because it was created by a British expatriate, but it stayed as the anthem until 1978.

🚨In 1978, Nigeria was under a military dictatorship and the country adopted a new anthem.

🚨Why did Tinubu choose to change the national anthem that has been in place for 46 years? And why did he choose to change it on the one-year anniversary of him taking office? Could the new anthem be a way to distract the people of Nigeria?

🚨A new report by Swissaid says that in 2022, 435 tonnes of gold were smuggled out of the African continent.

🚨A lion's share of the smuggled gold ended up in the UAE, where it was processed and re-exported to other parts of the world.

🚨Once gold is processed, most countries mark the processing country as the place of origin.

🚨In this way, African gold worth about $31 billion ended up getting smuggled out of the continent, and so it could not contribute to its source country's economy.

🚨Most of the smuggled gold came from artisanal mines, which can be unsafe, or run by militant groups who exploit people to fund their own activities.

🚨Israel's national security advisor has said that the war in Gaza will last seven more months, effectively until the end of 2024.

🚨His comments came as Israel's military seized a buffer zone between Gaza and Egypt.

🚨The buffer zone, called Philadelphi corridor, is supposed to be a demilitarised zone as per the 1979 peace deal between Israel and Egypt.

🚨Cairo has warned Israel against excessive military deployment in the region.

🚨Meanwhile, Israel's air strikes on Rafah have triggered an exodus of refugees from the city.

🚨The US has called on Israel to draft a post-war plan for Gaza.

🚨India too has expressed "concern" over Sunday's air strike that killed at least 45 civilians.
