“I was not supposed to attend AUISA events today. I was too busy. I’m fighting with someone whom people think is the elephant, forgetting that an elephant’s tusks can be sold in the market. When I think about where the elephant is, I see women wearing its tusks on their hands, that’s when I realized the tusks are already in the market, meaning the elephant is no more.”

The U.S.-proposed humanitarian truce is considered a request or proposal, not an order.

This is because the United States is not a direct party to the conflict in Sudan and therefore has no authority to issue binding orders to the warring sides. What it presents is a diplomatic initiative or political pressure, expressed through statements, negotiations, or potential sanctions.

The parties involved—such as the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces—have the right to accept, reject, or negotiate the proposal.

However, if the ceasefire is backed by the United Nations Security Council or an international coalition, it could carry strong political pressure, making it almost like an indirect order, especially if linked to sanctions or consequences.

In summary the U.S. humanitarian truce proposal is a request, not an order, though it may come with significant diplomatic pressure that makes rejection difficult.

Army: Arrest of “Red Belt” Members and Treating Them as Criminals

Nile Watch Magazine

The Commander-in-Chief of the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces, General Paul Nang, issued a strict warning regarding a group known as the “Red Belt,” emphasizing that it poses a threat to security in South Sudan.

General Nang stated: “What threatens our security here in South Sudan now is the Red Belt… in addition to those who are fighting us. They have an emblem and ranks, and they buy weapons… this means they are a well-organized group. From today onwards, treat the Red Belt as criminals. To security forces, when you see anyone from the Red Belt, consider them an enemy. There is no citizen force with an emblem. Therefore, I have given this directive to operations: you must treat the Red Belt exactly like those who are fighting us.”

This directive comes as part of the People’s Defence Forces’ efforts to combat non-state armed groups and safeguard the country’s security and stability.

Massive Project to Link South Sudan with Djibouti, Ethiopia, and Uganda through a Regional Transport Corridor

Nile Watch Magazine

The Republic of South Sudan has joined Djibouti, Uganda, and Ethiopia in establishing a regional authority tasked with creating a transport corridor that will connect the Horn of Africa and East Africa to global markets.

The agreement was reached during a ministerial and technical meeting hosted by Djibouti on October 21–22, 2025, where the Minister of Roads and Bridges, Simon Mijok Mijak, signed the Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of the Government of South Sudan.

Minister Mijok described the regional corridor as “not just a road, but a strategic lifeline for development and socio-economic integration in the region,” reaffirming his country’s commitment to enhancing cooperation in infrastructure and transport.

Meanwhile, Ethiopian Minister of Transport and Logistics Alemu Sime said the corridor represents “a gateway for regional trade and a path to prosperity for our peoples.” Uganda’s representative from the Ministry of Works and Transport, Apollo Kachonko, emphasized the importance of strengthening regional connectivity as a means to support local economies and improve livelihoods.

It is worth noting that the Ethiopian Parliament had approved in November 2024 a $738 million loan to South Sudan to finance its portion of the corridor, in exchange for the supply of petroleum products to Ethiopia.

Breaking | RSF Forces Announce Full Control of El Fasher, Including the Headquarters of the 6th Infantry Division

Nile Watch Magazine

The Sudanese Rapid Support Forces (RSF) announced on Sunday that they have taken full control of the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State, including the headquarters of the 6th Infantry Division of the Sudanese Armed Forces, after fierce battles that lasted for several hours.

Field sources stated in a circulated report that the operation followed a “wide advance” by RSF troops inside the city, allowing them to seize key military positions and government facilities.

Meanwhile, the Sudanese Army has not yet issued any official statement regarding the situation in El Fasher or the fate of the 6th Infantry Division as of the time of this report.

Eyewitnesses confirmed sporadic clashes continuing in some eastern neighborhoods of the city amid growing concern among civilians, with many residents fleeing to safer areas.

If confirmed officially, the fall of the 6th Infantry Division headquarters in El Fasher would mark a significant development in the ongoing conflict between the Sudanese Army and the RSF, which has been raging for over a year.
