So your field is waiting for summer all this time?. Who is feeding you during winter?. Are the crops that you grow during summer enough for you to eat and pay your bills?. If you have been doing that for the past 20 years, how rich is the farmer you have been supporting for the past 20 winters?. Is there a time when you say i am not eating because it is winter?. How many winter crops do you know?. How much water do they need to complete their life cycle?. It is true your winter production costs cannot outcompete farmers located in the Mediterranean regions where their winters are wet. Give yourself time and think about this. It is funny because most farmers are so relaxed even if the summer is coming. Winter activities like testing your soils, applying lime and discing have not yet been done. All we know is let the summer come ngifake phasi. We must be careful and not let this lazyness pass on to our kids. If we can come together and buy each others inputs, we can also come together and help each other in buying pipes and water pumps. That can be your life time investment and can be easily passed on to the next generation. Waiting for someone with water to feed us during winter is not an option.
