Dexon Technology recently welcomed Dow Chemical Thailand to our X-Base facility to demonstrate how Advanced NDT and robotic technologies are improving inspections.

From robotic tank and pipeline inspection systems to PAUT and digital integrity tools, the discussion focused on a simple goal: getting better inspection data while reducing downtime, risk, and manpower exposure.

Dexon inspected two refined product transmission pipelines in the Carribean transporting diesel and gasoline from a refinery to a tank terminal. The project involved 8-in. and 10-in. pipelines connected through a T-junction.

To reduce cost and preparation time, Dexon engineered a bespoke multi-diameter launcher capable of deploying both the UT-MC Falcon and UT-R Owl from a single system. Engineers also implemented a temporary product recovery and recirculation system using trucks and pumps. For the 8-in. section, the UT-R Owl operated bidirectionally to return through the T-junction.

The inspection successfully delivered accurate metal loss and geometry data.

Dexon recently completed an API 570 integrity assessment for a raw water pipeline network across Thailand, covering more than 24 underground (UG) and aboveground (AG) stations.

Using VT and UTM, engineers identified early-stage corrosion, coating degradation, and equipment abnormalities before they escalated into larger integrity risks.

Rather than isolated inspections, the project established a route-based Pipeline Integrity Baseline to support long-term maintenance planning, corrosion monitoring, and remaining life evaluation across the entire network.

In pipeline integrity, the real value comes from helping clients anticipate problems before they're problems.

What is the Difference Between Pull-Through & Push-Through Testing for In-line Inspection (ILI) Tools?

Before an in-line inspection (ILI) tool is deployed, engineers must answer two questions:

1. Will the tool pass the pipeline?

2. Will it accurately assess defects?

The most advanced inspection technology in the world means nothing if it gets stuck 10 kilometers into a run—or delivers terrible data while running through a pipe.

That is where pull-through and push-through testing come in.

While similar, the two methods serve different roles in validating ILI tool performance.

As PTC Berlin comes to a close, Dexon Technology would like to thank everyone who made this year such a success.

For those of us in this industry, whether inspectors, researchers, or pipeline operators, it is easy to get caught up in the daily grind.

Shipments to track. Reports to complete. Meetings to prepare for. New technologies to evaluate.

And every so often, news of a leak or worse hits – stark reminders of the consequences of what we do and the responsibility we carry to protect people, communities, and the environment.

But it is just as important to step back and recognize how far we have come.

Over the past decades, our industry has made tremendous progress – delivering energy at greater scale, with fewer incidents and higher safety standards.

This Earth Day, Dexon would like to acknowledge everyone – past and present – who has contributed to that progress.

Dexon Technology celebrated Songkran at our HQ last Friday—with a proper splash.
For those unfamiliar, Songkran marks the traditional Thai New Year and takes place during the hottest time of the year in what feels like one of the hottest countries on earth (something you truly appreciate standing out in the test yard at 40°C with 70% humidity).
At its heart, the holiday is about spending time with family, paying respects to seniors, having fun, and, of course, getting soaked.
Dexon hosted our internal Songkran celebration to kick off the new year, complete with offerings at the shrine, games (including the surprisingly difficult task of racing while balancing a bar of soap on a sheet of plastic), a lively marketplace, water guns, and the occasional (and somewhat involuntary) dunk in the tank.
Thank you to everyone who joined, from managers to engineers to admin teams.
A great start to the holidays and a reminder that beyond the projects and deadlines, Dexon is built by people who know how to work hard and enjoy the moment together.
