สายผูกปรับระดับได้ของเรา เริ่มต้นจากทริปญี่ปุ่นครั้งนั้นเลยค่ะ ทั้งลองปรับ ลองใช้ และลองสะพายกันจริงๆก่อนจะกลายมาเป็นหนึ่งในรายละเอียดของ colourways ใหม่ล่าสุดของเรา

Part I บันทึกความทรงจำ :)

เมื่อเดือน July ที่ผ่านมา พลอยมีโอกาสได้ไปจัดงานแสดงที่ Tokyo มาค่ะ และระหว่างทริปนั้นก็ได้แวะไปเรียนรู้ พูดคุย และแลกเปลี่ยนกับ supplier และพี่ๆน้องๆผู้ประกอบการท่านอื่นๆ รู้สึกเป็นทริปที่ได้อะไรดีๆกลับมาเต็มเลย

ไปครั้งนี้นอกจากไปแสดงสินค้า ก็ยังได้ไปลงคลาสเรียนเทคนิคมัดย้อมธรรมชาติจากครามที่บ่มด้วยกรรมวิธีดั้งเดิมของญี่ปุ่น ทั้ง Shō aizome 正藍 และ Han aizome 半藍 ซึ่งเป็นอีกหนึ่งเทคนิคที่น่าสนใจมากๆ ต่างจากครามที่เคยเห็น ได้เห็นตั้งแต่กระบวนการ วิธีคิด ไปจนถึงรายละเอียดเล็กๆที่ไม่เคยรู้มาก่อน

แต่สิ่งที่ชอบที่สุดคือ Ayaki ไม่หวงความรู้เลยค่ะ บอกทริกต่างๆ แบบเต็มที่ ทำให้เราได้เอากลับมาคิดต่อและต่อยอดในแบบของตัวเอง เป็นการเรียนที่รู้ตัวอีกทีก็ลืมเวลาไปสนิทเลยว่ายังไม่ทานข้าว

เรื่องนี้สอนให้รู้เลยว่าการเรียนรู้ของเราไม่มีวันสิ้นสุดจริงๆ ยิ่งทำงานเกี่ยวกับงานคราฟและวัสดุธรรมชาติ ยิ่งรู้สึกว่ายังมีอะไรให้เรียนรู้อีกเยอะมาก

ใครที่มีโอกาสหรือสนใจไปเรียน แนะนำเลย อาจจะไกลหน่อย ต้องมีรถไปส่ง แต่รับรองว่าคุ้มค่านะ นี่เป็นอีกหนึ่งประสบการณ์ที่ช่วยเปิดมุมมอง และจุดประกายไอเดียใหม่ๆ ที่ได้นำกลับมาประยุกต์ใช้กับงานของเราจริงๆ ติดตามชมผลงานได้เลยนะคะ 👉🏻

Part I: A little memory from Tokyo (and Chiba) 🤍

Last July, I had the chance to take thedailyobjects to Tokyo for a show. While I was there, I also made time to meet new suppliers, explore new materials, exchange ideas, and of course… collect a few little tricks to bring home with me.

One of the things I was most excited about was getting to learn traditional Japanese indigo dyeing techniques — Shō aizome 正藍 and Han aizome 半藍.

It was fascinating to see everything up close, from the process and techniques to the thinking behind them. But what I loved most was how generous Ayaki was with her knowledge. She shared all sorts of little tricks and details without holding anything back, giving us so much to take home and think about.

I completely lost track of time during the class. The kind of learning where you look at the clock and suddenly realise… wait, we haven't had a proper meal all day. That kind. 🥹

For over 80 years, our family has worked with leather, learning that some things simply cannot be rushed.

At thedailyobjects, we believe in creating simple, honest leather goods that become more beautiful with time—objects that quietly accompany us through everyday life. In many ways, this reflects the spirit of wabi-sabi: finding beauty in age, character, and the marks left behind by a life well lived.

This short film is a small introduction to who we are, where we come from, and the values that have been passed down through three generations of our family tannery in Thailand.

We are grateful to be exhibiting at JUMBLE TOKYO in Shibuya this week.

Tomorrow (24 July) is the final day of the fair, and we would be delighted to meet you, share our story, and introduce our collection in person.
