On September 22, 2026, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Thailand’s Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa) and Instep Co., Ltd. (“Instep”) to work together across areas including digital innovation, service design, digital skills development, smart cities, and opportunities connecting Thai startups with Japan.

Under this MOU, the three parties will collaborate across four key areas, including the “Digital Skill Roadmap” promoted by depa: (1) Smart Cities, (2) Digital Skills Development, (3) Hackathons addressing urban challenges, and (4) Supporting Thai startups in accessing the Japanese market.

Background
Thailand is advancing initiatives to develop talent capable of leveraging digital technologies and to strengthen skills development in line with the needs of industry, as part of its efforts to promote the growth of the digital economy.

One such initiative is the “Digital Skill Roadmap” promoted by depa.

The Digital Skill Roadmap provides a framework for identifying the skills needed in the digital age and supporting the development of digital talent in Thailand. It covers three areas: foundational skills required by everyone, skills for use in the workplace, and advanced skills for digital professionals. Through this framework, Thailand aims to raise digital skill levels across society while responding to the evolving needs of industry.

We have been working with universities and educational institutions in Thailand on service design education and talent development. Through this MOU, we will build on this experience and expand our collaboration beyond digital talent development into areas such as urban challenges and startups, bringing our expertise in service design, UX design, and human-centered design to these new areas.

Four Areas of Collaboration
As part of this collaboration, we will work together across the following four areas.

1. Smart City Lab – City Data Platform UX Design

We will support the design and development of the City Data Platform and related smart city services from a user experience (UX) perspective.

2. Design Academy – Digital Skills Roadmap and Workshops

We will develop and implement a Design Academy based on the Digital Skill Roadmap, along with workshops and other initiatives to support the development of digital skills and capabilities.

3. Hackathon for Cities – Starting with the Bangkok Metropolitan Area

Starting with the Bangkok Metropolitan Area, we will organize hackathons focused on challenges faced by cities and their residents, working toward practical ideas, prototypes, and digital solutions.

4. Startup Gateway to Japan

We will create opportunities for Thai startups to connect with the Japanese market by connecting them with Japanese companies and organizations, investors, and innovation ecosystems. Through these connections, we aim to encourage greater collaboration between the startup ecosystems of Thailand and Japan.

FOURDIGIT’s Role
As part of this collaboration, we will bring our expertise and experience in service design, UX design, human-centered design, and service design education to support the design and implementation of various programs in Thailand and Japan.

We will also deepen our collaboration with local educational institutions, companies, and the broader digital ecosystem in Thailand. This work will be supported by Dr. Wiwat Wongwarawipat, President of Instep Co., Ltd. and an advisor to the Faculty of Engineering at Chulalongkorn University, who has also supported our activities in Thailand.

MOU Signing: Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University x FOURDIGIT Inc.
On 31 August 2026, the Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University, and FOURDIGIT Inc. officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the Center for Digital Humanities, Faculty of Arts, marking the beginning of a meaningful partnership in service design. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment from both institutions to strengthen education, professional development, and innovation within the service design community.
Prior to the MOU signing, the two organizations had already laid the foundation for their partnership through four-day service design workshops held as part of the Arts Work-Integrated Education (AWIE) and Users and Service Design courses. Through these workshops, undergraduate students from the Faculty of Arts learned to begin with people, i.e., observing, listening, asking questions, and understanding needs, before developing service solutions.
Under this agreement, the two parties will co-develop training sessions, workshops, and other initiatives to upskill students, staff members, and relevant stakeholders in service design. The partnership will also open internship opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience in areas such as training, facilitation, and event management. In addition, both parties will exchange valuable knowledge, tools, methodologies, best practices, and research findings to support joint academic and research outcomes. Beyond these efforts, the collaboration aims to build a strong and lasting service design network, creating further opportunities for growth and exchange at both the national and international levels.

【 🇹🇭 SYNC Design & Innovation in SITE 2026 successfully held in Bangkok! ✨ 】
On Friday, June 26th, "SYNC Design & Innovation in SITE 2026"—co-hosted by Nikkei BP and the National Innovation Agency of Thailand (NIA)—came to a successful close in Bangkok!
This special program was held as part of "SITE," one of Southeast Asia's largest startup events. Centered around the theme of "Integrating Design and Business"—an absolute essential for tomorrow's global market—the event served as a powerful platform to share cutting-edge insights on how design can drive problem-solving and create entirely new value.
With programs unfolding across four different areas, the event gathered an incredible lineup of VIP guests, including leading Japanese creators and executives like Manabu Mizuno, Eisuke Tachikawa, and Eriko Yamaguchi, Thai government officials, and even Kumamon, who completely thrilled the audience! From FOURDIGIT, Taguchi and Suenari took the stage to lead passionate discussions on AI, finance, education, and the future of business management and design.
It was an incredibly high-energy, fruitful event where attendees could truly feel the innovation and potential that design brings to Asia. Through this event, FOURDIGIT firmly demonstrated its unique approach to design and the value we deliver to the global market.

FOURDIGIT (THAILAND) is looking for a User Experience Designer who is passionate about making a memorable impact on people’s everyday lives through digital products. If you have deep working knowledge of digital product design, development, and UX best practices, we want to hear from you.

Role Purpose
As a UX Designer, your mission is to ensure our digital products are well-crafted based on deep user understanding. You will bridge the gap between user needs and business value, delivering memorable experiences through meticulous research and high-fidelity design.

Key Responsibilities

Research & Analysis: Assess project scopes, determine research questions, and run studies from start to finish—including planning, recruiting, and synthesizing data into actionable insights.
Design & Architecture: Shape information architecture with sitemaps, user scenarios, and user flows. You will lead the design of large, complex systems of interaction.
Prototyping: Create complex interactive prototypes at varying levels of fidelity and develop wireframes and functional specifications at a fast pace.
Collaboration: Facilitate workshops and collaborate effectively across roles, including design, research, engineering, and product management.
Leadership: Advocate for the user through insightful presentations to stakeholders and mentor other UX designers in the pursuit of innovation.

Qualifications

Portfolio: A compelling portfolio showing distinctive work in product, service, and web design.
Experience: Previous experience in a design studio or advertising agency creating UX for websites and mobile applications.
Expertise: Solid understanding of Design Thinking principles and user-centered design theory.
Technical Skills: Familiarity with modern design and prototyping tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
Mindset: Ability to develop elegant solutions to complex problems, exceptional communication skills, and a collaborative, empathic nature.
Language: High proficiency to communicate in Japanese (JLPT N2 or above)

Bonus Points

Bachelor’s degree in UX Design, HCI, Industrial Design, or a related field.
Recognized UX Certifications (e.g., Nielsen Norman Group or HFI).

On 26 June we're putting on something I've been working toward for a while: SYNC Design & Innovation in SITE 2026, in Bangkok.

FOURDIGIT is co-organizing it with Nikkei BP and Thailand's National Innovation Agency (NIA). We're calling it the first design and innovation festival of its kind in Asia, which is a strong claim, but the speaker list backs it up:

- Manabu Mizuno (good design company), brand strategist behind Kumamon and Panasonic
- Eriko Yamaguchi (MOTHERHOUSE), CEO of a global bag brand that started in a workshop in Bangladesh
- Yoshihiro Yagi (dentsu Japan), Cannes Lions Grand Prix winner and 2026 D&AD Jury President
- Prof. Eisuke Tachikawa (NOSIGNER), board member of the World Design Organization
- Sumpatha Jadee (Farmgroup), the designer behind Bangkok's new visual identity, with prior work for Apple and Netflix

Why we put this together:

In Japan, the conversation about design moved past "make it look nice" roughly 15 years ago. Today it's treated as a real business function with seats at executive tables and direct lines to outcomes like retention, conversion, brand value, and operating efficiency. Southeast Asia is partway through that same shift, and Thailand has policy momentum behind it (NIA's involvement here is not coincidental).

Our bet is that the firms in this region that learn to use design as a strategy tool, not a polish layer, will have a real advantage in the next decade. Especially as AI commoditizes ex*****on and pushes the value upstream into framing, judgment, and taste.
