Implementation is 20 times more difficult! How to implement?

The Implementation of any idea, strategy or plan you have in mind or you have developed is always very difficult. In fact 20 times more difficult as setting up the idea, strategy or plan itself. This is what US-Research found out and this is why bright ideas, strategies or plans are often never implemented, early abandoned or stopped altogether because of Company internal resistance. As a result Companies do not reap the benefits they could get e.g. a Productivity Increase of 30% or a Sales Increase because of a new Marketing Strategy etc. Often such opportunities do not materialize although they are well planned. What we understand is, the critical factor of all ideas, strategies or plans is Implementation. Many Experts say the Effectiveness of Company Ownership or Company Management depends very much on the Effectiveness of the Secretary. If so, we have a problem as there is no Secretary Education or Secretary Training available. However the tasks, obligations and responsibilities a Secretary is involved in are comprehensive and complex. Today's business environment is rapidly changing. Just think Ups and Downs in distant Markets, the arrival of AEC in 2558, the Minimum Wage Rise which just happened and many more political and economical Uncertainties around the Globe, not least in the Arab World. Those are conditions forcing companies to quickly develop new products and differentiate their offerings through exclusivity while at the same time increasing productivity and cost efficiency. Knowledge about “how to increase productivity” is fairly limited and training tools are often chosen via the lowest-cost provider with minimal consideration about which provider would actually be the most effective. Management (in most cases) is more concerned with executing day to day transactions instead of productivity solutions. But no question, Increasing Productivity means Staff are increasing their efficiency. Implementation of new Opportunities

No doubt we are living in a changing world. One needs to think about the Minimum Wage rise, the upcoming AEC-Markets offering big Opportunities but also big Threats, the Euro Crisis, the Japanese Economy, the risks of the US-Fiscal Cliff, the Arab Spring etc. To steer through all those occurrences Companies have to implement New Ideas, New Procedures, New Processes to win the Opportunities embedded in those Occurrences. Change is required. But what Change? And how to “implement”? Until recently Staff has been trained to do one job, one task or one activity. Mostly the job even has been and still is the Staff’s “career”. However all of this has changed in our global-village-world which is short of time and even shorter of talent. In our today’s reality jobs and responsibilities are changing as fast as a Company moves up or down. Until recently Staff was quite well trained as jobs and responsibilities were clear. But today it is far more about learning and its continual process. To master “Change” Staff has to be able to learn continuously which has a lot to do with:

• The accelerating Rate of Change in Markets, Products, Competition and Costs
• The resulting Organizational Adaptation and Transformation which is required and the
• Mismatch Between Education + the Business Needs leading to new Change approaches

CR (Customer Retention) in urgent need for
Process Improvement?

Customer retention is about keeping a customer's business rather than having the customer move to your competitors. Companies want and need to reduce customer defections out of two main reasons:

1. If a customer moves reduction in sales, market share and most probably profits is resulting
2. You do not want to lose all the productivity gains you had made becoming an expert in quality, performance and pricing of your disappearing customer’s products which, getting a replacement customer, you have to learn all over again

Having discussed in our last News-DIGESTS the opportunities and tools to increase Competitiveness through engaging in modern management and control tools (From Function to Process, Business Process Improvement, Cost Accounting) it is easily recognizable that Marketing and as part of that “Customer Retention” is a highly important and indispensable tool to increase Competitiveness (upcoming AEC!) as well.
