🎙ïļ UDDI Urban Conversations
EP.01 | Belonging in the City 🌈
This Pride Month, we explore how urban design and transportation shape our sense of safety, inclusion and belonging in the city.

Join our special guests:
🎓 Prof. Dr. Shamim Noor Shamim Noor
Department of Public Administration, University of Chittagong, Bangladesh
🎓 Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pawinee Iamtrakul Pawinee Iamtrakul
Director of Center of Excellence in Urban Mobility Research and Innovation (UMRI) and Urban Design and Development International Program (UDDI)

Together, they discuss insights from their research published in Transport Policy:
"Women's Access to Urban Public Transport: Toward Addressing Policy Constraints in Combating Sexual Harassment"
(Noor & Iamtrakul, 2023)
https://doi.org/10.1016/j.tranpol.2023.04.010

Their study reveals how safety concerns can influence where, when, and how people travel, and why understanding diverse lived experiences is essential for creating more inclusive cities. While the research focuses on women's experiences, its message extends far beyond gender. It reminds us that people experience the same city differently, and that accessibility is not only about infrastructure, but also about dignity, safety and the ability to participate fully in urban life.

🌈 In celebration of Pride Month, let's reflect on how urban planning and transport systems can help create cities where everyone feels welcome, respected, and able to belong.

Cheers! ðŸģïļâ€ðŸŒˆðŸ™ïļ
