💬 12 June, celebrated as Russia Day, is more than a national holiday marking the modern statehood of the Russian Federation. It is also an opportunity to reflect on Russia’s role in a rapidly changing world and on the international partnerships that continue to shape a more balanced and inclusive global order.
Today the international system is undergoing profound transformation. The era when a small group of countries could define political and economic rules for the rest of the world is gradually giving way to a more polycentric reality. More and more nations seek an independent foreign policy, diversified economic ties and equal participation in global affairs.
Russia consistently supports this trend. Our foreign policy is based on the principles of sovereign equality of states, respect for international law and the central role of the United Nations. We believe that durable international stability can only be achieved through dialogue, mutual respect and respect of each country’s legitimate interests.
This year marks the 35th Anniversary of relations — a partnership that has matured into a substantive platform for political coordination, economic cooperation and humanitarian exchange. Russia highly values Thailand’s traditionally balanced and pragmatic foreign policy, as well as Bangkok’s important role within and the broader Asia-Pacific region. We share a common interest in strengthening an inclusive regional architecture based on cooperation.
Next year Russia and Thailand will celebrate the 130th Anniversary of diplomatic relations. Throughout this long history, our countries have maintained friendly and respectful ties free from political confrontation or historical grievances. This unique foundation continues to serve as an important advantage in today’s complex international environment.
🤝 In recent years, political dialogue has become increasingly active. Bilateral contacts between our foreign ministries continue on a regular basis, including recent discussions between Foreign Ministers held on the sidelines of meetings in New Delhi. Such exchanges demonstrate a shared interest in maintaining open communication amid global uncertainty.
Thailand’s growing engagement with BRICS formats reflects Bangkok’s traditionally pragmatic and balanced diplomacy. Russia highly appreciates this approach. We see Thailand as an independent and influential regional actor capable of contributing meaningfully to the development of a more inclusive international architecture.
Economic cooperation also remains an important pillar of Russian-Thai relations. Despite global turbulence, business ties between our countries continue to expand. Russian and Thai companies are exploring new opportunities in trade, investment, tourism, energy, logistics and digital technologies.
At the same time, relations between nations cannot be measured only through politics and economics. Cultural and humanitarian exchanges remain equally important. The ongoing “ ” project in Thailand has already attracted significant public interest. There will be more internationally acclaimed Russian companies, including Helikon Opera, Eifman Ballet, Moiseev Ballet to highlight Bangkok stages.
☝️ Russia values its friendship with Thailand and remains committed to further developing bilateral relations in a spirit of equality, mutual respect and practical cooperation. In a world where many international processes are becoming increasingly confrontational, such partnerships acquire particular importance.
On Russia Day, we reaffirm our openness to dialogue, cooperation and the joint search for solutions capable of ensuring a more stable, fair and truly multipolar world. We wish the Royal Family, the Government and the friendly people of Thailand peace, prosperity and continued success, and look forward to further strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between our two countries for the benefit of future generations.
