Employment Pass or Professional Visit Pass?

The wrong choice can lead to compliance risks. Here is how to tell them apart.

Employment Pass. For foreign professionals employed and paid by a Malaysian company. Long-term, with dependent rights.

Professional Visit Pass. For professionals who remain employed by an overseas company on a temporary assignment in Malaysia. Up to 12 months, no dependants, no direct conversion to EP.

The rule is simple:

Paid by a Malaysian company, apply for EP.

Paid by an overseas entity for a temporary assignment, apply for PVP.
