Launch of Scam Literacy Thailand initiative in Thailand
Date: 7 April 2026
Collaborating Organizations: Thai Media Fund, Nabi Asia, UNODC, Central Investigation Bureau (CIB)

Thaiconsent officially launched the Scam Literacy Thailand initiative at Le Méridien Bangkok, with support from the Thai Media Fund (TMF) and technical collaboration from Nabi Asia, which works closely with psychiatrists to apply psychology informed approaches. The event brought together representatives from government, international organizations, media, and academia to address the growing threat of digital deception and scam center related crimes. Through keynote sessions and expert discussions, speakers highlighted how scams have evolved beyond financial fraud into systems of exploitation linked to trafficking in persons for forced criminality. The initiative introduces a psychology informed approach to strengthen media literacy, focusing on how human behavior such as trust, urgency, and authority is exploited in scam tactics. A range of public resources, including videos, infographics, and digital content, were also introduced to support awareness and practical prevention.

Impacts:
The initiative strengthens public and institutional capacity to respond to digital deception by shifting focus from awareness to behavior based prevention. By promoting psychology informed tools and cross sector collaboration, it supports more effective decision making under pressure and reduces vulnerability to scams. The project also creates a foundation for long term engagement across government, media, private sector, and academia to build resilience and prevent exploitation at scale.

Collaborating Organizations: UNODC, Nabi Asia, Central Investigation Bureau (CIB)

Thaiconsent delivered a keynote session and facilitated training alongside Nabi Asia, UNODC, and the Anti Trafficking in Persons Division of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB). The workshop brought together participants from academia, NGOs, CSOs, and other stakeholders to strengthen awareness on trafficking risks and scam centre traps, as well as the role of media in increasing scam literacy. The sessions also introduced principles of trauma informed care, encouraging participants to approach affected individuals with empathy, dignity, and awareness of psychological impacts. This created space for reflection on their roles within institutions and communities, and how they can contribute to prevention and support. Many expressed commitment to act as part of a broader safety net by sharing knowledge, integrating scam awareness into their work, and using media responsibly to alert others. Organizing the Fourth Young Trans and Feminist Cross-Movement Retreat
Date: 14 February 2026
Collaboration Organization: WFA, Nabi LAB

Thaiconsent organized the third Young Trans and Feminist Cross Movement Project in Chiang Mai, bringing together 12 participants from diverse social and activist backgrounds. The event responded to widening gaps within Thailand’s feminist movement, where tensions around inclusion and political priorities have grown. Rooted in its core values, Thaiconsent created a safe space for dialogue, coalition building, and the sharing of lived experiences grounded in gender equality. As an ally of the trans community, Thaiconsent reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive movement building. Through interactive sessions on the 4Cs of community building, including Community, Compassion, Confidence, and Commitment, participants reflected on fragmentation and trust gaps within feminist organizing in Thailand.

Impacts:
In Thailand, trans communities continue to experience legal invisibility, social stigma, and exclusion from segments of mainstream feminist advocacy. To empower the trans community, this retreat aims to strengthen intersectional dialogue and rebuild trust among diverse gender justice members. By centering young trans leadership and facilitating cross-movement exchange, the project advances a shift from symbolic inclusion toward meaningful structural participation. The event reaffirms a collective commitment to solidarity-based feminism in Thailand, grounded in shared responsibility, mutual respect, and sustained collaboration for long-term social change.

Co-development of Trapped In Scam Crime Regional Campaign
Date: 12 December 2025
Collaboration Organization: UNODC, International Justice Mission (IJM), funded by the U.S. Department of State

Thaiconsent supported the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in the launch of the regional campaign Trapped in Scam Crime, developed in collaboration with the International Justice Mission (IJM). This campaign focuses on trafficking in persons for forced criminality (TIP for FC) in scam centres. Thaiconsent co-developed key campaign materials, including infographics, social media content, a master video, a pocket guidebook, and a survivor-informed sticker set. Materials were produced in nine languages (English, Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, Lao, Malay, Indonesian, Khmer, and Burmese) to ensure accessibility across the region. The campaign also includes four testimonial videos from scam centre survivors, whose lived experiences helped shape the trauma-informed and rights-based messaging. The official launch event in Bangkok brought together government agencies, embassies, civil society, private sector partners, and the media, with a survivor speaker calling for a safer digital environment and stronger protection systems.

Impacts:
Although still in its early phase, the campaign is already gaining significant public attention across Southeast Asia. Through targeted amplification strategies, the materials have reached millions, with impact expected to grow substantially over the next year. The pilot phase demonstrated strong public demand for accessible and survivor informed information. As the campaign expands, it aims to support prevention efforts, strengthen regional cooperation, and equip communities with the knowledge to identify and resist recruitment into scam operations.

Hosting of Forum on Human Trafficking for Forced Criminality with Focus on Media Responsibility
Date: 29 November 2025
Collaboration Organization: Nabi Asia

Thaiconsent supported Nabi Asia to host a high-level forum at KX Knowledge Xchange, as part of the Nabi Fellows: Communicator for Good Network, to examine the role of media in exposing modern forms of human trafficking and protecting the public from transnational criminal networks. The event brought together journalists, NGOs, and human rights experts to discuss how cyber-enabled trafficking, forced criminality in scam centres, and harmful stereotypes continue to blur the line between victim and offender. Keynote experts highlighted how traffickers exploit gaps in the justice system, how recruitment tactics have rapidly evolved, and why the media must avoid reinforcing stigma while upholding facts, dignity, and survivor-centred reporting.
▫️
Impacts
▫️
The forum helped strengthen public understanding of trafficking for forced criminality and revealed how rapidly evolving recruitment tactics continue to endanger people across the region. Journalists gained clearer guidance on ethical reporting, including the non-punishment principle, privacy protection, and the need to avoid stereotypes that blame or shame survivors. The discussion also highlighted systemic gaps that allow traffickers to exploit victims while remaining beyond accountability. By bringing together communicators, civil society actors, and subject matter experts, the event encouraged a shift toward survivor-centred storytelling that prioritizes accuracy, dignity, and public safety. It also reinforced the need for stronger cross-sector cooperation to ensure that Thai audiences receive clear information about emerging risks and how to protect themselves.
