🇹🇭 What Is the DTV Visa?

The Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) is a multiple-entry visa designed for people who want to spend extended periods in Thailand without applying for a new visa every few months.

With a 5-year validity and flexible stay options, it has quickly become one of the most popular visas for digital nomads, remote workers, freelancers, and individuals participating in eligible Thai Soft Power activities.

How Does the DTV Visa Work?

One important thing to understand is that the visa validity is different from the length of stay.

Your DTV Visa is valid for 5 years from the date it is issued. During those five years, you can enter and leave Thailand as many times as you like.

For each entry, you are permitted to stay in Thailand for up to 180 days.

If you wish to stay longer, you may extend your stay one time per entry for an additional 180 days, allowing you to remain in Thailand for up to 360 consecutive days on that entry.

After reaching the maximum stay of 360 days, if you wish to continue staying in Thailand, you will need to leave Thailand for at least one day before re-entering. Upon re-entry, a new 180-day stay period begins, and you may again extend your stay once for another 180 days.

As long as your DTV Visa remains valid, you can continue entering and leaving Thailand multiple times throughout the 5-year validity period.

Thai Child Custody Visa (Non-Immigrant O)

Not married to your Thai partner? You may still be eligible to stay in Thailand legally.

Many people believe that a Thai Marriage Visa is the only option if they have a Thai family.

In reality, if you are the parent of a Thai child, you may qualify for a Non-Immigrant O Visa based on supporting your Thai child, even if:

📌 Important Notice

If your visa or permission to stay expires on a Saturday, Sunday, or an official Thai government holiday, you may visit the Immigration Office on the next working day. In general, you will not be charged an overstay fine, and the immigration officer will usually place a remark in your passport indicating that your expiry date fell on a government holiday.

To avoid any issues, we recommend visiting the Immigration Office on the first business day after the holiday.
