💙“เมื่ออุบัติเหตุเกิดขึ้น... เครือข่ายคือหลักประกันของผู้เก็บขยะนอกระบบ”💙
✨ผู้เก็บขยะนอกระบบรายแรกประสบอุบัติเหตุบนท้องถนนระหว่างขับรถซาเล้งออกเก็บขยะร่วมกับภรรยา เหตุการณ์ดังกล่าวทำให้ภรรยาหมดสติ ส่วนตนเองได้รับบาดเจ็บบริเวณกระดูกหัวไหล่ ผู้ประสบอุบัติเหตุได้รับความช่วยเหลือผ่านประกันอุบัติเหตุสำหรับเครือข่ายผู้เก็บและคัดแยกขยะนอกระบบ ซึ่ง BOP สนับสนุนร่วมกับเทศบาลนครสุราษฎร์ธานี องค์การกองทุนสัตว์ป่าโลกสากล (WWF) และมูลนิธิ Jan and Oscar
✨รายที่ 2 ประสบอุบัติเหตุระหว่างการทำงาน แม้จะสวมแว่นตาป้องกันและถุงมือแล้ว แต่เศษหินยังกระเด็นเข้าไปในเบ้าตาข้างซ้าย ทำให้ตาพร่ามัวและมองเห็นไม่ชัด ภายหลังได้ใช้สิทธิ์จากประกันอุบัติเหตุเข้ารับการรักษาที่โรงพยาบาล จนหายเป็นปกติ
✨รายที่ 3 เป็นคู่สามีภรรยาผู้ประกอบอาชีพเก็บขยะ ซึ่งประสบอุบัติเหตุรถซาเล้งล้มระหว่างออกเก็บขยะ ทั้งคู่ได้รับเงินชดเชยการขาดรายได้จากกองทุนประกันวันละบาท โดยได้รับการสนับสนุนเงินค่าสมัครจาก E2C กลุ่มอาสาสมัครอนุรักษ์บนเกาะสมุย และองค์กรภาคีเครือข่ายของ BOP เงินชดเชยดังกล่าวช่วยบรรเทาผลกระทบจากการขาดรายได้ในช่วงที่ต้องหยุดพักรักษาตัว
♻️ในโอกาสนี้ ผู้ประสานงานภาคสนามได้ประสานและขอคำปรึกษาจากธนาคารเกี่ยวกับบริการทางการเงิน เพื่อสนับสนุนให้ผู้เก็บขยะนอกระบบสามารถเข้าถึงบริการทางการเงินที่พึ่งพาได้ โดยเฉพาะผู้ที่อยู่ในกลุ่มเปราะบาง

💙When Accidents Happen... A formalised or Semi-formalised Network Becomes a Safety Net for Informal Waste Pickers.💙
✨The first informal waste picker was involved in a road accident while collecting recyclable materials with his wife using their three-wheeled collection vehicle. The accident left his wife unconscious, while he sustained a shoulder injury. They received support through the accident insurance scheme provided for members of the Informal Waste Picker Network, supported by BOP in collaboration with Surat Thani City Municipality, the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), and the Jan & Oscar Foundation.
✨The second case involved a work-related accident. Despite wearing protective gloves and safety glasses, a fragment of stone struck the worker's left eye, causing blurred vision. Through the accident insurance scheme, the member was able to receive prompt medical treatment at a hospital and has since made a full recovery.
✨The third case involved a husband and wife who earn their living by collecting recyclable waste. Their collection tricycle overturned while they were working, resulting in injuries that prevented them from working for a period of time. They received daily income compensation through the "One-Baht-a-Day Insurance Fund," with membership fees supported by E2C – Environmental Conservation Volunteers of Koh Samui – together with BOP's partner organizations. This financial support helped ease the burden of lost income during their recovery.
♻️During these visits, the field coordinator also consulted with a local bank regarding financial services that could better support informal waste pickers, particularly those in vulnerable situations, helping them gain access to reliable and inclusive financial services.
♻️In addition, BOP's field coordinator gathered feedback and concerns from members of the Saleng Recycling Center welfare program, operated by Surat Thani City Municipality and its partner organizations. The information collected will be used to improve the design and delivery of welfare services, ensuring they are more accessible, inclusive, and effective for all members.
♻️While there is still room for improvement, our Informal Waste Picker Network remains committed to strengthening the livelihoods and well-being of informal waste pickers while contributing to more effective waste management and environmental protection.

💙 เมื่อวันที่ 7 กรกฎาคม 2569 ที่ผ่านมา เทศบาลนครสุราษฎร์ธานีได้จัดอบรมให้ความรู้ด้านการจัดการขยะสำหรับกลุ่มอาสาสมัครท้องถิ่นรักษ์โลก (อถล.) ภายใต้โครงการ “ลดขยะต้นทางกับนครสุราษฎร์ธานี” ณ ห้องศรีวิชัย B โรงแรมวังใต้ จังหวัดสุราษฎร์ธานี
💚 ในโอกาสนี้ BOP ได้ร่วมเป็นหนึ่งในวิทยากรผู้บรรยายในหัวข้อ “การรวมกลุ่มของชุมชนในการจัดการขยะรีไซเคิล” เพื่อแลกเปลี่ยนแนวคิดและประสบการณ์การทำงานร่วมกับชุมชนในการคัดแยก รวบรวม และบริหารจัดการขยะรีไซเคิลอย่างเป็นระบบการสร้างความเข้าใจเรื่องการคัดแยกขยะตั้งแต่ต้นทาง 🌱♻️
💙 หลังเสร็จสิ้นภารกิจร่วมกับเทศบาลนครสุราษฎร์ธานี ทาง BOP ได้ลงพื้นที่เยี่ยม คุณลุงสถิต วงศ์สวัสดิ์ สมาชิกศูนย์วัสดุรีไซเคิล เทศบาลนครสุราษฎร์ธานี ที่ประสบอุบัติเหตุ เพื่อให้กำลังใจและติดตามอาการอย่างใกล้ชิด

💙 On 7 July 2026, Surat Thani Municipality organized a training session on waste management for the Local Environment Volunteer Network (LEV.) under the project “Reducing Waste at the Source with Surat Thani Municipality” at Srivichai B Room, Wangtai Hotel, Surat Thani Province.
💚 On this occasion, BOP was honored to serve as one of the guest speakers, presenting on the topic “Community Collaboration in Recyclable Waste Management.” The session provided an opportunity to share ideas and practical experience on working with communities to sort, collect, and manage recyclable waste systematically, while also strengthening understanding of waste separation at the source. 🌱♻️
💙 Following the engagement with Surat Thani Municipality, the BOP team visited Mr. Sathit Wongsawat, a member of the Surat Thani Municipality Recycling Center, who had recently been injured in an accident, to offer encouragement and check on his recovery.
BOP also supported and coordinated access to accident insurance benefits that it helps provide for informal waste workers and saleng collectors.
💚 BOP believes that waste sorters and informal recycling workers are a vital force in the recycling system and deserve proper care and support. ♻️

เดือนมิถุนายน ที่ผ่านมาเป็นเดือนสำคัญด้านสิ่งแวดล้อมของโลก โดยมีทั้งวันสิ่งแวดล้อมโลกและวันมหาสมุทรโลก เพื่อกระตุ้นให้ทุกคนร่วมกันอนุรักษ์และฟื้นฟูทรัพยากรธรรมชาติ
BOP สนับสนุน E2C ในการรวบรวมข้อมูลจากกิจกรรมเก็บขยะรอบเกาะสมุย ภายใต้แนวคิด “7 หาด 7 ตำบล” เพื่อสำรวจสถานการณ์ขยะทะเลที่เกิดขึ้นจริงในแต่ละพื้นที่
📍 วันนี้ขอนำเสนอข้อมูลจากบ่อผุด
4. # ตำบลบ่อผุด
จากการเก็บขยะใน 2 พื้นที่ พบขยะรวม 883.9 กิโลกรัม ประกอบด้วย
🔹 ขยะทั่วไป 376.8 กก.
🔹 ขยะมูลค่าต่ำ 296.7 กก.
🔹 ขยะรีไซเคิล 167.9 กก.
🔹 แก้วแตก 26.8 กก.
🔹 ขยะอันตราย 15.8 กก.
📊 สิ่งที่น่าสนใจคือ ขยะทั่วไป ขยะมูลค่าต่ำ และขยะรีไซเคิล มีสัดส่วนรวมกันมากกว่า 95% ของขยะทั้งหมดที่เก็บได้ สะท้อนให้เห็นว่าปัญหาขยะในพื้นที่ท่องเที่ยวส่วนใหญ่เกิดจากกิจกรรมในชีวิตประจำวันของนักท่องเที่ยวและประชากรในถิ่น ขณะเดียวกัน ขยะจำนวนไม่น้อยยังสามารถนำกลับมาใช้ประโยชน์ได้ หากมีการคัดแยกและจัดการอย่างถูกต้องตั้งแต่ต้นทาง ซึ่งจะช่วยลดปริมาณขยะที่หลุดรอดสู่สิ่งแวดล้อมและท้องทะเลได้อย่างเป็นรูปธรรม
อีกหนึ่งภาพที่สะท้อนความทุ่มเทของกิจกรรมในครั้งนี้ คือการที่กลุ่มชาวประมงพื้นบ้านร่วมดำน้ำลงเก็บกู้อวนที่ติดค้างอยู่ใต้ทะเลบริเวณหาดแหลมสน–เกาะมัดหลัง แม้จะไม่มีการบันทึกปริมาณอวนที่เก็บกู้ได้ แต่ทุกผืนอวนที่ถูกนำขึ้นจากทะเล คือการลดความเสี่ยงต่อสัตว์ทะเลและช่วยฟื้นฟูระบบนิเวศใต้ทะเลให้กลับมาอุดมสมบูรณ์อีกครั้ง
♻️ ขยะรีไซเคิลที่เก็บได้ทั้งหมดจะถูกนำกลับเข้าสู่กระบวนการรีไซเคิล เพื่อลดปริมาณขยะและหมุนเวียนทรัพยากรกลับมาใช้ประโยชน์อีกครั้ง

จากการเก็บขยะในพื้นที่ พบขยะรวม 401 กิโลกรัม ประกอบด้วย
🔹 ขยะทั่วไป 354.5 กก.
🔹 ขยะรีไซเคิล 32 กก.
🔹 แก้วแตก 10 กก.
🔹 ขยะอันตราย 3.5 กก.
🔹 ขยะมูลค่าต่ำ 1 กก.
📊 สิ่งที่น่าสนใจคือ ขยะทั่วไปมีปริมาณสูงถึงเกือบ 90% ของขยะทั้งหมดที่เก็บได้ สะท้อนว่าปัญหาขยะริมชายฝั่งยังคงเกิดจากขยะในชีวิตประจำวันเป็นหลัก และหากไม่มีการจัดการอย่างเหมาะสม ขยะเหล่านี้มีโอกาสไหลลงสู่ทะเล กลายเป็นมลพิษที่ส่งผลกระทบต่อระบบนิเวศและสัตว์ทะเลในระยะยาว ในอีกมุมหนึ่ง ข้อมูลนี้ยังเป็นสัญญาณว่าการ ลดการใช้วัสดุใช้ครั้งเดียว การทิ้งขยะให้ถูกที่ และการคัดแยกขยะตั้งแต่ต้นทาง คือมาตรการง่าย ๆ ที่ทุกคนสามารถมีส่วนร่วมได้ และจะช่วยลดปริมาณขยะที่หลุดรอดสู่ทะเล

🔹 ขยะรีไซเคิล 121.5 กก.
🔹 แก้วแตก 33 กก.
🔹 ขยะอันตราย 5 กก.
🔹 ขยะมูลค่าต่ำ 5 กก.
📊 สิ่งที่น่าสนใจคือ ขยะรีไซเคิลมีปริมาณสูงถึง 121.5 กิโลกรัม คิดเป็นเกือบหนึ่งในสี่ของขยะทั้งหมดที่เก็บได้ สะท้อนว่าขยะจำนวนไม่น้อยยังมีคุณค่าและสามารถนำกลับมาใช้ประโยชน์ได้ หากได้รับการคัดแยกอย่างถูกต้องตั้งแต่ต้นทาง ข้อมูลนี้จึงไม่เพียงสะท้อนปัญหาขยะทะเล แต่ยังชี้ให้เห็นถึง "โอกาส" ในการลดปริมาณขยะและใช้ทรัพยากรอย่างคุ้มค่าผ่านการรีไซเคิลและการมีส่วนร่วมของทุกภาคส่วน

จากการเก็บขยะในพื้นที่ พบขยะรวม 119.4 กิโลกรัม ประกอบด้วย
🔹 ขยะทั่วไป 81.9 กก.
🔹 แก้วแตก 14.7 กก.
🔹 ขยะมูลค่าต่ำ 11.5 กก.
🔹 ขยะรีไซเคิล 8 กก.
🔹 ขยะอันตราย 3.3 กก.
📊 สิ่งที่น่าสนใจคือ แม้ขยะทั่วไปจะมีปริมาณมากที่สุด แต่ยังพบแก้วแตกถึง 14.7 กิโลกรัม ซึ่งคิดเป็นกว่า 12% ของขยะทั้งหมดที่เก็บได้ สะท้อนให้เห็นว่าขยะประเภทคมและแตกหักยังคงเป็นความเสี่ยงต่อทั้งประชาชน นักท่องเที่ยว และอาสาสมัครที่ปฏิบัติงานริมชายหาด หากไม่มีการจัดการอย่างเหมาะสม

Last June marked an important month for the global environment, with both World Environment Day and World Oceans Day inspiring people around the world to protect and restore our natural resources.
BOP supported E2C in collecting data from the "7 Beaches, 7 Subdistricts" coastal clean-up campaign around Koh Samui to better understand the marine litter situation in each area.
📍 Today, we present the findings from Bophut
4. # Bophut Subdistrict
Waste collected from 2 locations totaled 883.9 kilograms, consisting of:
🔹 General waste – 376.8 kg
🔹 Low-value waste – 296.7 kg
🔹 Recyclable waste – 167.9 kg
🔹 Broken glass – 26.8 kg
🔹 Hazardous waste – 15.8 kg
📊 One notable finding is that general waste, low-value waste, and recyclable materials together accounted for more than 95% of all waste collected. This reflects how waste generated from daily activities by both tourists and local communities remains the primary source of marine litter in this popular tourist area. At the same time, a significant portion of the collected waste still had recycling potential, highlighting the importance of proper waste separation at the source to prevent valuable materials from ending up in the environment and the sea.
Another inspiring moment from this activity was the collaboration with local fishermen, who volunteered to dive beneath the waters around Laem Son Beach and Koh Mudlang to recover abandoned fishing nets. Although the weight of the recovered nets was not recorded, every net removed from the sea helps reduce the risk to marine life and contributes to the long-term restoration of underwater ecosystems.
♻️ All recyclable materials collected during the activity will be sent for recycling, helping reduce waste while returning valuable resources back into circulation.

Waste collected totaled 401 kilograms, consisting of:
🔹 General waste – 354.5 kg
🔹 Recyclable waste – 32 kg
🔹 Broken glass – 10 kg
🔹 Hazardous waste – 3.5 kg
🔹 Low-value waste – 1 kg
📊 General waste accounted for nearly 90% of all waste collected, indicating that everyday household waste remains the primary source of pollution along the coastline. Without proper management, these materials can easily be washed into the sea, where they threaten marine ecosystems and wildlife over time.
The findings also reinforce that simple actions—such as reducing single-use products, disposing of waste responsibly, and separating recyclable materials at the source—can significantly reduce the amount of waste reaching the ocean.
✨ Maret Subdistrict also served as the main venue for the World Oceans Day activities on Koh Samui, bringing together government agencies, private organizations, local communities, businesses, and volunteers. This collaboration demonstrates that lasting solutions to marine litter are only possible through collective action.

Waste collected totaled 492 kilograms, consisting of:

These findings not only reveal the ongoing challenge of marine litter but also demonstrate the opportunity to reduce waste and make better use of valuable resources through recycling and community participation.

📊 Although general waste accounted for the largest share, broken glass totaled 14.7 kilograms—more than 12% of all waste collected. This highlights the continued risks posed by sharp and broken materials to local residents, tourists, and volunteers participating in beach clean-up activities if not disposed of properly.
The findings emphasize the importance of disposing of broken materials correctly and separating waste at the source. Doing so not only improves safety during waste collection but also increases recycling opportunities and helps reduce the impact of waste on marine and coastal ecosystems.

Throughout the journey, we had the privilege of hearing the stories of more than 20 saleng workers—unsung heroes who quietly work behind the scenes of our recycling system every day.

Although their paths in life may differ, they share the same qualities: hard work, honesty, and the hope of building a better life for themselves and their families.
Their stories remind us that “waste and discarded materials” are not simply things to be thrown away. They are resources that can be given new value—thanks to the people who collect, sort, and return them to the recycling process. These workers are a vital part of the circular economy. They contribute to the well-being of society and the environment and deserve equal rights, recognition, and dignity in their work.

The BOP Impact team sincerely thanks every saleng worker who opened their heart and shared their story, as well as everyone who joined us on this journey.
Although this series has come to an end, we hope these stories will encourage society to recognize the value of workers in every profession, support waste separation at the source, and help build a society where no one is left behind.

Every collection creates value for those who do the work.

🌊💙 World Oceans Day Series | ลิปะน้อย | แม่น้ำ
เดือนมิถุนายนเป็นเดือนสำคัญด้านสิ่งแวดล้อมของโลก โดยมีทั้งวันสิ่งแวดล้อมโลกและวันมหาสมุทรโลก เพื่อกระตุ้นให้ทุกคนร่วมกันอนุรักษ์และฟื้นฟูทรัพยากรธรรมชาติ
BOP สนับสนุน E2C ในการรวบรวมข้อมูลจากกิจกรรมเก็บขยะรอบเกาะสมุย ภายใต้แนวคิด “7 หาด 7 ตำบล” เพื่อสำรวจสถานการณ์ขยะทะเลที่เกิดขึ้นจริงในแต่ละพื้นที่
📍 วันนี้ขอนำเสนอข้อมูลจาก 2 ตำบล ได้แก่ ลิปะน้อย และแม่น้ำ
2. # ตำบลลิปะน้อย
จากการเก็บขยะใน 2 พื้นที่ พบขยะรวม 80.4 กิโลกรัม ประกอบด้วย
🔹 ขยะทั่วไป 57.2 กก.
🔹 ขยะรีไซเคิล 7.7 กก.
🔹 ขยะมูลค่าต่ำ 7.4 กก.
🔹 แก้วแตก 7.5 กก.
🔹 ขยะอันตราย 0.6 กก.
📊 ขยะที่พบมากที่สุดคือ ขยะทั่วไป คิดเป็นกว่า 70% ของขยะทั้งหมดที่เก็บได้ สะท้อนให้เห็นว่าขยะจากการใช้ชีวิตประจำวันยังคงเป็นปัญหาหลักที่พบตามชายหาดและพื้นที่สาธารณะริมทะเล ขยะรีไซเคิลหากทิ้งไว้เป็นเวลานานก็อาจจะเปลี่ยนสภาพเป็นขยะทั่วไปได้

จากการเก็บขยะใน 2 พื้นที่ พบขยะรวม 54.5 กิโลกรัม (บางพื้นที่มีการเก็บขยะ แต่ไม่ได้รายงานปริมาณขยะ) ประกอบด้วย
🔹 ขยะทั่วไป 20 กก.
🔹 ขยะรีไซเคิล 14 กก.
🔹 แก้วแตก 13 กก.
🔹 ขยะมูลค่าต่ำ 7 กก.
🔹 ขยะอันตราย 0.5 กก.
📊 สิ่งที่น่าสนใจคือ ขยะรีไซเคิลและแก้วแตกมีปริมาณใกล้เคียงกัน รวมกันคิดเป็นเกือบครึ่งหนึ่งของขยะทั้งหมดที่เก็บได้ สะท้อนถึงความสำคัญของการคัดแยกขยะตั้งแต่ต้นทาง เพื่อป้องกันวัสดุที่ยังสามารถนำกลับมาใช้ประโยชน์ได้จากการกลายเป็นขยะในสิ่งแวดล้อม และป้องกันอุบัติเหตุที่จะเกิดจากแก้วแตกด้วย

June is an important month for environmental awareness, marked by both World Environment Day and World Oceans Day, encouraging people around the world to take action in protecting and restoring our natural resources.
BOP supported E2C in collecting data from the Koh Samui Island Clean-Up Campaign under the theme “7 Beaches, 7 Subdistricts” to better understand the marine litter situation across different areas of the island.
📍 Today, we present findings from two subdistricts: Lipa Noi and Maenam.
2. # Lipa Noi Subdistrict
A total of 80.4 kg of waste was collected from two locations, consisting of:
🔹 General waste – 57.2 kg
🔹 Recyclable waste – 7.7 kg
🔹 Low-value recyclables – 7.4 kg
🔹 Broken glass – 7.5 kg
🔹 Hazardous waste – 0.6 kg
📊 The most common type of waste found was general waste, accounting for more than 70% of the total collected. This highlights how everyday litter remains one of the main environmental challenges along beaches and coastal public spaces. Recyclable materials, if left unmanaged for long periods, can also deteriorate and eventually become general waste.
Another important activity took place at Wat Samuttharam Beach, where volunteers joined together to plant mangroves. This initiative helps restore coastal ecosystems, create nursery habitats for marine life, and strengthen the long-term health of the shoreline. The activity was led by members of the Samui Local Ladies Group or Satree Withi Samui Group, under the leadership of Ms. Manee Ouiprasert, who played a key role in mobilizing community participation.
♻️ All recyclable materials collected during the activity will be sent for recycling, helping to reduce waste and return valuable resources back into use.

3. # Maenam Subdistrict
A total of 54.5 kg of waste was reported from two locations (some clean-up sites participated but did not report waste quantities), consisting of:
🔹 General waste – 20 kg
🔹 Recyclable waste – 14 kg
🔹 Broken glass – 13 kg
🔹 Low-value recyclables – 7 kg
🔹 Hazardous waste – 0.5 kg
📊 One notable finding was that recyclable waste and broken glass were found in nearly equal amounts, together accounting for almost half of all collected waste. This highlights the importance of waste separation at the source, helping prevent valuable materials from becoming environmental pollution while also reducing the risk of injuries caused by broken glass.
♻️ All recyclable materials collected will be sent for recycling, supporting a circular economy and reducing the amount of waste requiring disposal.

Many people may see “old and discarded items” as things that have lost their value. However, for “Ms. Z” (alias), these items represent important opportunities that help generate income and provide stability for her family.
Over the past two years working as a saleng (waste collector), “Ms. Z” has learned that items many people overlook can still be transformed into something valuable. Whether they are plastic bottles, paper, cardboard boxes, or scrap metal, each item has worth and can be turned into income through hard work and determination.
Previously, “Ms. Z” worked as a vendor, but she eventually decided to pursue a career as a saleng with dedication and perseverance. This occupation not only provides her with a steady weekly income but also enables her to plan household expenses, support her family, and take pride in earning an honest living. Moreover, her work contributes positively to society and the environment by helping recyclable materials return to the recycling process.
Today, we would like to share the story of “Ms. Z”—a woman who transforms discarded items into value and turns hard work into hope, creating a better future for herself and her family.

🔹 Low-value recyclables – 11 kg
🔹 Hazardous waste – 2.9 kg
🔹 Broken glass – 2 kg
📊 The most significant finding was that discarded fishing nets accounted for nearly half of all waste collected. These nets were recovered with the support of the ARRI team and officers from the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR). Lost or abandoned fishing nets can become “ghost nets,” continuing to trap marine life and damage coastal ecosystems for years.
All recyclable materials collected during the activity will be sent for recycling, helping to reduce waste and return valuable resources back into use.
