🌊💙 เนื่องในวันมหาสมุทรโลก (World Oceans Day) วันที่ 8 มิถุนายน 2569 ที่ผ่านมา จัดโดยเทศบาลนครเกาะสมุย และความร่วมมือของเครือข่ายเกาะยั่งยืนประเทศไทย พร้อมด้วย BOP และ Second Life ที่ร่วมสนับสนุนและลงพื้นที่ปฏิบัติงานร่วมกับภาคีเครือข่าย ชุมชน และอาสาสมัคร เพื่อฟื้นฟูระบบนิเวศทางทะเลและชายฝั่งของเกาะสมุย โดยในปีนี้ได้จัดควบคู่ไปกับกิจกรรม “30+ Islands Clean-Up So Cool Mission 2026” ภายใต้แนวคิด “รวมพลังชาวเกาะยั่งยืนประเทศไทย ร่วมใจรักษ์มหาสมุทรโลก” ซึ่งจัดขึ้นพร้อมกันกว่า 30 เกาะทั่วประเทศ
บนเกาะสมุยมีการดำเนินกิจกรรมเก็บขยะในทะเล ชายหาด และป่าชายเลน ครอบคลุม 7 ชายหาดใน 7 ตำบล
🔹 หาดพังกา กิจกรรมเก็บกู้อวนผีจากทะเลบริเวณหน้าหาด ท่าเรืออ่าวพังกา The Treasure นำโดย ARRI GLOBAL ร่วมกับเจ้าหน้าที่กรมทรัพยากรทางทะเลและชายฝั่ง สามารถเก็บกู้อวนผีได้รวม 163 กิโลกรัม ช่วยลดผลกระทบต่อสัตว์ทะเลและระบบนิเวศใต้ทะเล
🔹 หาดลิปะน้อย กิจกรรมปลูกป่าโกงกาง โดยพลังจิตอาสา “บวร” (บ้าน วัด โรงเรียน) ร่วมกับกลุ่มสตรีวิถีสมุย และคณะกรรมการชุมชนบ้านหินลาด–ลิปะน้อย เพื่อเพิ่มพื้นที่สีเขียวและฟื้นฟูความอุดมสมบูรณ์ของระบบนิเวศชายฝั่ง
🔹 หาดตลิ่งงาม – เขาป่านาเล นำโดย พล.ร.ต.นันทพล มาลารัตน์ พร้อมกำลังพลจากสถานีเรือสังกัดกองทัพเรือ จำนวน 16 นาย ร่วมเก็บขยะชายหาดและพื้นที่โดยรอบ พร้อมด้วยจิตอาสาจากธนาคารขยะชุมชนแม่น้ำ ที่รับขยะรีไซเคิลและขยะมูลค่าต่ำ เพื่อนำส่งต่อเข้าสู่กระบวนการจัดการอย่างถูกต้องผ่านโครงการอิฐรักษ์โลก E2C เกาะสมุย
🔹 หาดบางมะขาม กิจกรรมเก็บขยะชายหาดร่วมกับชุมชนในพื้นที่ และศูนย์ส่งเสริมการเรียนรู้ระดับอำเภอเกาะสมุย (ศกร.) สะท้อนพลังความร่วมมือของคนในชุมชนในการดูแลทรัพยากรทางทะเลและสร้างความตระหนักถึงปัญหาขยะทางทะเล
🔹 หาดเกาะแตน กิจกรรมเก็บขยะบริเวณชายหาดเกาะแตนฝั่งตะวันออกและพื้นที่โดยรอบโรงพยาบาลส่งเสริมสุขภาพตำบลบ้านเกาะแตน เพื่อรักษาความสะอาดของแหล่งท่องเที่ยวและชุมชนบนเกาะ
🌱 กิจกรรมครั้งนี้สะท้อนพลังความร่วมมือของภาครัฐ ภาคเอกชน ชุมชน และภาคประชาสังคม โดย BOP และ Second Life ได้ร่วมเป็นส่วนสำคัญในการสนับสนุนและขับเคลื่อนกิจกรรมด้านสิ่งแวดล้อม ร่วมกับเครือข่ายทุกภาคส่วน เพื่อส่งต่อมหาสมุทรที่สะอาดและยั่งยืนให้กับคนรุ่นต่อไป

🌊💙 In celebration of World Oceans Day on June 8, 2026, an environmental conservation activity was organized by Koh Samui Municipality in collaboration with the Thailand Sustainable Islands Network, with support and active participation from BOP and Second Life. Together with partner organizations, local communities, and volunteers, they worked to restore and protect Koh Samui’s marine and coastal ecosystems.
This year, the event was held alongside the “30+ Islands Clean-Up So Cool Mission 2026” campaign under the theme “Uniting Sustainable Island Communities of Thailand to Protect Our Oceans,” which took place simultaneously across more than 30 islands nationwide.
On Koh Samui, clean-up activities were carried out in the sea, along beaches, and within mangrove forests, covering seven beaches across seven sub-districts.
🔹 Phangka Beach A ghost net removal operation was conducted in front of The Treasure Pier at Ao Phangka. Led by ARRI GLOBAL in collaboration with officers from the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources, the team successfully recovered 163 kilograms of abandoned fishing nets, helping reduce impacts on marine life and underwater ecosystems.
🔹 Lipa Noi Beach A mangrove planting activity was organized through the collective efforts of the “BOWORN” volunteer network (Home, Temple, and School), the Samui Women’s Group, and the Ban Hin Lat–Lipa Noi Community Committee to expand green spaces and restore the coastal ecosystem.
🔹 Taling Ngam – Khao Pa Na Lay Beach Led by Rear Admiral Nuntapol Malarat and 16 naval personnel from the local naval station, volunteers joined a beach clean-up operation in the surrounding area. The Mae Nam Community Waste Bank also participated by collecting recyclable and low-value waste for proper processing through the E2C Eco-Brick Project on Koh Samui.
🔹 Bang Makham Beach A beach clean-up activity was organized with local community members and the Koh Samui District Learning Promotion Center (SKN), highlighting the importance of community participation in protecting marine resources and raising awareness of marine debris issues.
🔹 Koh Tan Beach Volunteers collected litter along the eastern shoreline of Koh Tan and around the Ban Koh Tan Subdistrict Health Promotion Hospital, helping maintain the cleanliness of both the tourist destination and the local community.
🌱 This event demonstrated the power of collaboration among government agencies, private sector organizations, local communities, and civil society. BOP and Second Life played an important role in supporting and driving environmental initiatives alongside all partners, working together to ensure cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable oceans for future generations.

Behind those simple words was someone who never felt truly proud of her work, despite earning an honest living and playing an important role in reducing waste in her community. Her story reminds us that sometimes, the people who contribute the most to protecting the environment are the very ones who have never fully recognized their own value.

Although waste collectors are rarely talked about, they play an important role in reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills 🌱 and serve as a vital part of Thailand’s recycling system, quietly working behind the scenes. ♻️
Their story is not only about making a living—it is also a story of diligence perseverance and the ability to create value from things that many people consider worthless.
For them, “waste” is not the end of the journey, but an opportunity that can be transformed into income and generate benefits for society every single day. 🌍 Today, we would like to introduce “Uncle W,” (alias) a man who uses hard work and determination to turn discarded items into value, while sharing an inspiring story that reminds us all of the power of perseverance and purpose. 💚

💚 น้องฟ้า ผู้ดูแลธนาคารขยะชุมชนหัวถนน ซึ่ง BOP ร่วมสร้างและสนับสนุนอย่างต่อเนื่องมากว่า 4 ปี ใช้เวลาวันหยุดจากงานประจำ มาดูแลธนาคารขยะของชุมชน ร่วมกับครอบครัวที่ช่วยกันคัดแยกขยะรีไซเคิลอย่างละเอียด ก่อนส่งขายให้ร้านรับซื้อ หากเราแยกได้ละเอียด ก็จะทำให้ได้ราคาขายที่ดีขึ้นอีกด้วย
♻️ ขยะทุกชิ้นที่นี่ มาจากทั้งการรับบริจาคและรับซื้อจากคนในชุมชน ก่อนถูกเปลี่ยนเป็นรายได้ และมีส่วนช่วยสร้างสิ่งแวดล้อมที่ดีขึ้นร่วมกัน
♻️หากบ้านไหนมีขวดพลาสติก กระดาษ กระป๋อง หรือขวดแก้ว สามารถนำมาร่วมขายหรือบริจาคให้น้องฟ้าได้
📍ทุกวันศุกร์ เวลา 09.30 – 11.30 น. ทาง BOP ช่วยรับบริจาคและรับซื้อให้กับน้องฟ้า ธนาคารขยะชุมชนหัวถนนยังคงเดินหน้าต่อไป ด้วยความร่วมมือและกำลังใจจากทุกคน
🌱มาร่วมกันเปลี่ยน “ขยะ” ให้กลายเป็น “มูลค่า” และสร้างชุมชนที่น่าอยู่ไปด้วยกัน 💚

💚 Fah, the collector of Hua Thanon Community Waste Bank, has dedicated her time to the project for more than 4 years with continuous support from BOP. Even on her days off from her full-time job, she spends her time managing the community waste bank together with her family, carefully sorting recyclable waste before selling it to recycling shops. The more detailed the sorting process is, the better the selling price becomes.
♻️ Every piece of recyclable waste here comes from community donations and purchases from local residents, before being transformed into income and contributing to a cleaner and better environment for everyone.
♻️ If you have plastic bottles, paper, cans, or glass bottles, you are welcome to sell or donate them to support Fah and the community waste bank.
📍 Every Friday | 09:30 AM – 11:30 AM BOP helps collect and purchase recyclables on behalf of Fah.
The Hua Thanon Community Waste Bank continues to move forward with the support, cooperation, and encouragement of the community.

BOP supports all platforms, tools, and innovations that strengthen public waste management infrastructure to become more efficient, transparent, and accessible. We especially support approaches that leave no one behind, including recognizing the role and vulnerabilities of informal waste workers, who are key contributors to the regional recycling system.
We sincerely hope that collaboration among academic institutions, government agencies, the private sector, and civil society will help drive cities toward waste management systems that are inclusive, equitable, and sustainable for everyone. 🌏

It also allows workers to choose flexible working hours that suit their lifestyles. However, many informal waste collectors still face challenges related to unstable income, safety, and limited access to welfare and social protection. Therefore, they deserve proper support and protection 🤝
Today, we would like to introduce Auntie Vee, one of the informal waste collectors who never gives up on life and chooses to rely on herself through hard work, perseverance, and a simple way of living every day ✨

🌿 BOP Moves Forward in Supporting Informal Workers and Enhancing Safety for Waste Collectors on Koh Samui. After visiting and speaking with Aunt Jan, the first waste collector member of BOP on Koh Samui,
💚 we recognized the importance of hygiene and safety for informal workers, especially during the rainy season. BOP has therefore provided rubber gloves, garbage bags, and netting to help make their work safer and more convenient.
🌿 BOP remains committed to collaborating with all sectors on Koh Samui to support and strengthen informal worker groups, improving their quality of life, workplace safety, and opportunities for a better future.

Every morning, Ms. U (alias), an elderly woman, drives her old sidecar motorcycle out of the house to begin another day collecting bottles, plastic, and recyclable items around the community ♻️📦 Although this job does not bring in much income, it is an honest way for her to earn money for her daily expenses 💵✨

Her life is all about “earning day by day” 🌱 Some days she earns more, some days less, but she continues to fight on with a smile 😊💪 because she believes that hard work will help her overcome every hardship. Even though her life is not luxurious, the simplicity of her lifestyle and the ability to rely on herself are small sources of pride for this hardworking woman who makes a living as a recycler 🛺🌸

♻️ “ผลิตเท่าไร ต้องรับผิดชอบกลับคืน”
BOP x Second Life x บริษัทพรเจริญรีไซเคิล ร่วมกับผู้ประกอบการ โรงแรม และภาคธุรกิจบนเกาะสมุย เดินหน้าขับเคลื่อนโครงการ EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) เพื่อสร้างระบบจัดการขยะอย่างยั่งยืน และผลักดันเกาะสมุยสู่เมืองท่องเที่ยวรักษ์โลก 🌊
✨ จากปัญหาขยะพลาสติกและขวดแก้วที่เพิ่มขึ้นอย่างต่อเนื่อง เราจึงร่วมกันพัฒนาระบบบริหารจัดการขยะผ่านแนวคิด “ผลิตเท่าไร ต้องรับผิดชอบกลับคืน” เป้าหมายคือ เก็บขยะพลาสติกและขวดแก้วกลับเข้าสู่ระบบรีไซเคิลตามเกณฑ์ที่กำหนด
✨ ยกตัวอย่าง คือ ผู้ประกอบการสร้างขยะจากการบริโภคเป็นขวดพลาสติกหรือขวดแก้ว 10 ขวด ต้องนำกลับมาในระบบรีไซเคิลให้ได้อย่างน้อย 8-9 ขวด เพื่อลดขยะรั่วไหล ลดมลพิษทางทะเล และสร้าง Circular Economy อย่างเป็นรูปธรรม
🌊 นี่ไม่ใช่แค่เรื่องของขยะ แต่คือการเพิ่มศักยภาพด้านการจัดการทรัพยากร ตลอดจนเป็นการส่งเสริมความรับผิดชอบต่อการดูแลทะเล ชุมชนและอนาคตของเกาะสมุยอย่างยั่งยืนและเป็นระบบ

♻️ “What We Produce, We Must Take Responsibility For”
BOP x Second Life x Por Charoen Recycle, together with business operators, hotels, and the private sector on Koh Samui, are driving the EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) project to create a sustainable waste management system and move Koh Samui toward becoming an eco-friendly tourism destination 🌊
✨ With the increasing amount of plastic waste and glass bottles, we are working together to improve waste management through the concept of “What we produce, we must take responsibility for.” Our goal is to collect and return plastic and glass waste to the recycling system according to the required target.
✨For example, if a business generates 10 plastic or glass bottles from consumption, at least 8–9 bottles should be collected and returned to the recycling system to reduce waste leakage, reduce marine pollution, and create a concrete Circular Economy.
🌊 This is not only about waste management — it is about strengthening resource management and promoting shared responsibility for protecting the sea, the community, and the sustainable future of Koh Samui.

Thailand has entered an aging society 👵🏻 where many elderly people still seek income security and meaningful daily activities. Small occupations such as informal recycling collection ♻️ have become an important way for older people to remain active, self-reliant, and connected to their communities.

Over the past year, Auntie T (alias) has gradually become attached to her work as a “saleng” collector 🚲. What began with uncertainty has now become part of her daily life. Although the income is modest, the work brings her dignity, purpose, and warm relationships within the community 🤝💛
