He was the producer of the Best Model of The World contest.
INTERNATIONAL PRODUCER ÖZERMAN DIED TODAY.
President of the Best Model of the World competition, Erkan Özerman (86). Turkish producer and organizer Erkan Özerman died today in the hospital where he was treated. Film-San Foundation announced the death of Özerman. Özerman had been fighting cancer for a while.
The statement said, "May God have mercy on the organizer Erkan Özerman, one of the founders of the Film-San Foundation, and offer our condolences to his family and loved ones. May he rest in peace."
Erkan Özerman, whose pancreatic cancer recurred in 2022 and spread to his liver, said that he learned about his disease by chance in the program he was a guest on and said, "I am living the end of my life."
ABOUT ERKAN ÖZERMAN?
Born in Istanbul in 1938, Erkan Özerman graduated from Galatasaray High School and then completed his education at the Université Paris VIII Faculty of Sociology, Paris Political School. The famous name worked as a cinema and theater critic and magazine writer in various newspapers.
He became the founder of important nightclubs and discotheques in the entertainment industry in Turkey. He also served as entertainment programs director at Ankara Radio.
He became the President of the 1st International Istanbul Pop Music Festival in 1976, and the President of the French-Turkish Friendship Association in 1979.
In 1989, with the intermediary of Süha Özgermi, he made an agreement with Charlie See, the president of RCA Global Entertainment Co. First, he rented the Best Model of Turkey competition. When the competition was successful, it was decided to hold the international final of the competition (Best Model of The World).
Thus, the center of the Best Model of the World competition was moved from Hollywood to Istanbul, Turkey.
During the years Özerman continued his competition, he brought in many actors for Turkish cinema and Turkish television series.
In 2004, Charlie See, the owner of all shares of RCA Global Entertainment Co, sold his shares to Rasim Aydın.
Upon this development, Özerman did not give up the competition and continued the competition by making a contract with Rasim Aydın again.
Özerman also founded the Sportive Ballroom Dance Association in 2001.
