Brain Effacement: A likely result of brain drain by entrepreneurship

In Turkey, the general elections are around the corner. Diversity in policies and progressively enriched and promoted hope are paramount indicators of the recent political atmosphere. The political leaders have apparently designed their future projections, significantly different than the past alternates, on the new concepts of modern-day trajectories. In line with other international political actors who are in act, nominated political leaders and the potential candidates of ruling authority are aware of the fact that the prescribed provisions shall literally match up with the ideal provisions of the both recent and future needs of societies.

Along with Industry 4.0, that is originally a projection and strategy of German government for the changing mode of production in the recent technology era; political leaders and decision makers (as well as decision takers) in Turkey are deeply interested in entrepreneurship. The commercial banks, leading NGOs and eminent corporate institutions have fulled their agenda with this recent trending topics. Even, private schools promote their curriculums with these emerging concepts.

This short article advertently ignores Industry 4.0 but sticks to the point of entrepreneurship and its likely relation to brain effacement. I strongly argue that, despite its flamboyance nature that is promoted with creativity ex*****on, in any event; entrepreneurship demands guidance and counseling. Therefore, unorthodoxly, I argue that without overall ( and communicating) structural planning regarding the projections of the country in/for itself and with its relational position to others, favoring the entrepreneurship may cause brain effacement.

13 million is the number of young people live in Turkey who are aged between 15 -24. Statistically, 1 of 5 young people are unemployed and the 2 of 4 works in service sector and the others in agriculture and industry, respectively. Regarding the social realities, how come the concept of entrepreneurship can become the premier policy for young people is a substantially vital question. On the other hand, the potential entrepreneurs/entrepreneuses are not limited to aged group of 15-24 but also the more mature groups. The pairing surveys claim that 56 % of people aged under 35 are open to concept of entrepreneurship and 57 % of people aged 35-49; while the latter trusts their skills with higher precedence.

What is entrepreneurship, then? Is it a windows of opportunity to scarcity of employment? Is it a illusion or well promoted delusion to societies in turn?

3 basic questions can be well responded with different alternatives, ideals and social realities. None of the perspective is hierarchically worse or better than the other. However, in terms of the entrepreneurship; I argue that any potentiality can turn into a nightmare ( brain effacement is a nightmare!) if social projections are not well defined and wider scale policies are not planned. I assert the idea that entrepreneurship is not a speech bubble that is declared without the knowledge of its potential results. And, yes; it prerequisites a long term monitoring as well.

Through Linkedin, users bumper into articles about entrepreneurship and how successful start-ups saved the world. These articles are mostly about great stories that arouse our interest on it. One hardly deny that, whilst reading great stories; we really come up with our inner selves that push our creativity into entrepreneurial realities. And, our voice is likely to excel: 'Why not me?' 'I can do it, as well'. And, I am pretty sure that there are plenty of start-ups that have already put up a good performance! Good for them! But, what about the failures?

Here, I literally do not denote the technical failures due to 10k-ish attempts that do not work. I connate the failure in its social scale. What about a failure in a social scale? Are political leaders in promising state for the failed entrepreneurs/entrepreneuses as well?

Entrepreneurs/entrepreneuses shall be well guided in larger scale and projections and provided by the skills for all concerning stages. Policies shall be well-structured and short-term and long-term challenges shall be well-covered. Prospective contributions of the entrepreneurs/ entrepreneuses to the society and ecology shall be substantially visible ( life patterns are not only limited to economics, be aware!).

Besides, what about the social security provisions? Are entrepreneurs/ entrepreneuses forming new form of precarity movement? How to handle precarity of the new famous unknown?

Well, yes! These are the social spin-offs that urges to be thought!

I argue that without decent provisions, promoting entrepreneurship as the premier policy in response to " diploma diseases" and unemployment problematic of new century is likely to cause brain effacement. Well-educated, dynamic, locally or globally motivated brain potential can be drained effortlessly if entrepreneurship is not projected in larger scale and left to the market in their birthday suit!

What could be the alternatives then?

Let's check France!

France, with Macron leadership, has pioneered a well-projected scheme for entrepreneurs/entrepreneuses! Paris, since 2016, puts its cards on the table so as to be the technology hub of the Europe. Financial, technical and social provisions to the talented are precisely organized and Paris promises to welcome entrepreneurs/ entrepreneuses with communicating policies within France and the EU. Despite its disputable nature and open to the critiques; still; I assert the idea that this form of entrepreneurship is likely to rock!
