What is IOIS-YÖS?
The Institute of International Students’ International Students Election Exam (IOIS-YÖS) has been developed to conduct a transparent and objective international student election process organized to meet the necessities of the present time in compliance with the appropriate standards, by takingall necessary measures to protect security and privacy, which will increase the number of qualified international students in Turkey, with homogeneous national backgrounds in terms of the global scale.
The Institute of International Students’ International Students Election Exam (IOIS-YÖS) is conducted through face-to-face and/or online and multilingual communication settings in a manner that is certified by the competent international bodies in terms compliance with the documentation (ISO 9001 Quality Management System), Exam privacy (ISO 27001 Information Security Management System), candidate satisfaction (ISO 10002 User Satisfaction Standard), and identified Exam application (ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Standard) standards. The ranking is based on the grading scale ranging between 0 and 100 points. The exam results are embedded with a verifiable special code system.
IOIS-YÖS is a corporate exam directly organized by the Institute of International Students for the international students wishing to study in the higher education institutions in Turkey, the results of which are used in the application process andare recognized by the universities in Turkey for student admissions.
The “Fundamental Learning Skills Test,” aiming to measure the abstract thinking and reasoning skills of the candidates, is applied in this exam. This test consists of two categories; “reasoning” and “quantitative skills.” The Fundamental Learning Test does not involve questions from the fields such as physics, chemistry, biology, geography, or history. The test includes as few language-specific expressions as possible; the questions are explained in four alternative languages, two of which always being Turkish and English.
The reasoning test includes questions that will challenge the candidates to decodify numbers with words, to decodify numbers with shapes, to match shapes, to complete matching shapes, to identify divergent shapes (shape matrix), to rotate shapes, to identify shape patterns, to solve functions in shapes, to solve scaling problems, to identify numerical patterns associated with shapes, to identify numerical patterns, to identify the relationship between two numbers, to calculate, to use addition and subtraction skills, to identify the relationship between numbers, to integrate shapes into squares, to count cubes, to trace painted surfaces on cubes and to count lines.
The quantitative skills test includes questions that will challenge the candidates’ skills in geometry (special triangles, angle bisector, median, quadrangles, prisms pyramids in circles etc.) mathematics I (numbers, division-divisibility, factorial, rational and decimal numbers, basic disequilibria, numerical value, exponential numbers, root numbers, factorization etc.) and mathematics II (polynomial, quadratic equations, parabola, trigonometry, multiplication symbols, logarithms, complex numbers, limits, derivatives, integrals, determinants, etc.).
