Understanding International Sugar Trading
International sugar trading is far more than negotiating a price. Every transaction is governed by internationally recognized commercial standards, banking procedures, and contractual obligations.
One of the most common misconceptions is that there is a fixed export price for sugar or that pricing depends solely on purchase volume. In reality, every transaction is negotiated individually based on several commercial factors, including product specifications, order volume, delivery terms, destination, logistics, the agreed payment instrument, and contractual conditions.
International sugar transactions are conducted under globally recognized Incoterms, such as EXW, FOB, CFR, and CIF. These are internationally accepted delivery terms—not different types of sugar. They define the responsibilities of buyers and sellers regarding transportation, costs, insurance, and the transfer of risk throughout the supply chain.
Once the commercial terms have been agreed upon, the banking process is handled by the relevant financial institutions in accordance with international banking regulations and established industry practices. Depending on the transaction, payment may be arranged through TT, LC, DLC, SBLC, or another mutually agreed banking instrument. Where required by the contract, a Performance Bond or Performance Guarantee may also form part of the transaction.
At NOVA ROTA TRADING, we are committed to transparency, due diligence, and genuine commodity trading.
As a Brazilian trading company, we do not participate in SBLC or Bank Guarantee (BG) monetization structures, either as a buyer or as a seller.
Our purchasing policy is straightforward: we negotiate only commodities that are physically available, supported by clear ownership documentation, valid warehouse reports, and, whenever necessary, verified through on-site inspections before any transaction proceeds.
International trade is built on trust, transparency, compliance, and professionalism—not on shortcuts.
