IMPORTANT UPDATE ON SHORT TERM TOURISTIC RESIDENCE PERMIT RENEWALS:

The Immigration Office has announced to accept short term touristic residence permit renewal applications for all countries.

Foreigners who have exceeded their stay after 01.01.2020 and are currently illegal in Turkey can apply for renewals without having to leave Turkey.

New renewal applications which were submitted due to rejection after 01.01.2020 will be considered.

Renewal applications which will be submitted before expiry date will also be considered.

Duty fee payment will be double for the above applications.

IMPORTANT UPDATE ON WORK PERMIT APPLICATIONS:

The Ministry has announced on 21st of August that all work permit applications submitted abroad (to Turkish Embassy/Consulate) require Covid test result showing negative, must be uploaded to the application portal. All sponsoring employers must also upload Undertaking (Taahhutname) to the portal.

NEW ANNOUNCEMENT FROM IMMIGRATION OFFICE:
Foreigners who have been granted 1 year or longer (called "short term") touristic residence permit will not be allowed to renew their residence permit from 01.01.2020 unless they have reasonable circumstances to stay as non-tourist.

Turkey’s immigration authority launches new mobile application:

The Directorate General of Migration Management (DGMM) has launched a new mobile application In order to offer a new platform from which to provide foreigners with detailed information on residency and visa procedures and their rights in accordance with international and temporary protection rights to Turkey's immigrant population.

This application, which can be downloaded from Google Play Store and is currently only available for Android users, has been prepared in six different languages, including Turkish, Arabic, English, Russian, Persian and German.

The Directorate General of Migration Management previously launched an informative online help-line platform through telephone number 157 and has prepared detailed information leaflets.

NEW REQUIREMENTS ON WORK PERMIT APPLICATIONS:

Effective from 26.02.2018, employers must have e-signature and a KEP account for online work permit applications. Both can be obtained from local post office by company signing authority.

KEP is a new system which provides more secure way to send/receive formal emails to/from the Ministry of Labor.

Work permit applications submitted before 26.2.2018 and is still on review process will be treated based on the previous requirements.

Work permit applications submitted before 26.2.2018 but review process not started yet will be treated based on the new requirements.

For initial work permit applications (except domestic worker applications), employers must register the company details on the system and then authorise the 3rd party individual/company to proceed with the rest of the work permit online application.

As the applications will be submitted by e-signature, Application Form, Application Letter and/or any other document is not required to be sent to the Ministry of Labor by post.

The Immigration Office website has been unavailable for appointment/renewals due to unknown reasons. If the expiry date of your residence permit is in a couple of weeks away, you should find the Ozel Kalem Sekreteri (like a secreterial office) at the Immigration Office in Fatih and make an application with a (dilekce) as we have been advised.
