The Ministry of Finance has officially extended the deadline for mandatory registration under the Landlord Business Surcharge to June 30th, 2026.
This extension was granted to allow landlords and rent-collecting agents additional time to:
โ Organise required documents
โ Complete registration
โ Ensure compliance
โ Avoid penalties
๐ Under the Finance Act 2025, the surcharge applies to gross quarterly rental income as follows:
๐น 2.5% โ Rental income up to $20,000
๐น 3.5% โ Rental income above $20,000
The initiative aims to improve tax compliance and create better structure within the rental sector.

Landlord Business Surcharge Registration Deadline Extended to June 30th, 2026 Following Public Engagement
Minister of Finance, The Honourable Davendranath Tancoo, MP, said the extension follows engagement with stakeholders and members of the public, and is intended to give landlords additional time to organise documents, complete registration and avoid penalties.
โThis extension strengthens the implementation, while ensuring that the rental sector is better regulated and positioned for further growth.โ - Minister Tancoo
Non-exempt landlords are encouraged to use the extended period to regularise their position and become compliant.
