A gas flame’s color can reveal how efficiently fuel is burning. A steady blue flame usually indicates complete combustion and the correct air-to-gas mixture. Yellow or orange flames may signal dust, humidity, restricted airflow, or incomplete combustion. Unusual red, green, or white flames can result from minerals, metal salts, chemicals, or an improperly adjusted burner and should be inspected.
