CIARB TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO CHAPTER ANNOUNCES NEW EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP
Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago – The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) Trinidad and Tobago Chapter is pleased to announce the election of its new Executive leadership following the Chapter’s Annual General Meeting held on Thursday, April 23rd, 2026.
The newly elected Executive team brings together a wealth of experience in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and is committed to advancing the professional standards and reach of the Institute within the local and regional legal landscape.
The elected officers for the current term are:
* Chair: Salma Rahaman, FCIArb
* Vice Chair: Edward Albada, MCIArb
* Treasurer: Natthoya Baptiste, MCIArb
* Secretary: Tarsha Simon, MCIArb
* Immediate Past Chair: Justice Dr. Anthony DJ Gafoor, FCIArb
Incoming Chair, Ms. Salma Rahaman, expressed her enthusiasm for the term ahead, noting that the new leadership intends to build upon the strong foundation laid by their predecessors. “We are entering an exciting phase for the Chapter,” said Ms. Rahaman. We look forward to welcoming the support of our members as we initiate new programmes to raise the level of participation and professional engagement. Our goal is to ensure that CIArb remains the leading voice for dispute resolution excellence in Trinidad and Tobago.” A primary focus for the upcoming term will be the launch of a comprehensive engagement campaign designed to increase member participation and foster a more vibrant ADR community.
The Chapter also takes this opportunity to extend its profound gratitude to the Immediate Past Chair, Justice Dr. Anthony DJ Gafoor, FCIArb. Justice Gafoor has provided exemplary leadership over the past seven years, making a tremendous contribution not only to the Trinidad and Tobago Chapter but also to the wider Caribbean Branch of the CIArb. His dedication has been instrumental in elevating the profile of arbitration and mediation in the region.
