Dr. Kublalsingh and his colleagues were protesting for an alternative route to the Debe to Mon Desir Highway and also for relocation of the Carisal Chemical Complex.

This may come as a shocker to most, but there is yet to be a proper waste management system implemented within Trinidad & Tobago and quite a few regional Islands despite being involved in a number of environmental initiatives. As a result, our mangroves and surrounding seas have been heavily polluted by bacterial run offs which has had quite an adverse effect not only on marine life, but also on the lively hood of fishermen and the well being of unknowing citizens who purchase whatever is caught out of these polluted waters. One can go on and on about the ripple effects which can occur from the lack of awareness and management of such issues which can lead all the way back to a nations economic sustainability.
