Nissan Almera N16 QG15DE | Rough & Low Idle – Two Different Faults!

This Nissan Almera N16 with the QG15DE cable throttle engine had two reported symptoms: rough idle and low idle RPM.

Diagnostic testing revealed that these were actually two separate problems.

• Rough Idle – Caused by a faulty camshaft position sensor (CMP).

• Low Idle – The engine was not actually idling as low as the dashboard indicated. The instrument cluster was faulty and displaying an incorrect RPM reading.

The rough idle was a genuine engine-performance problem, while the low idle was a false indication from the instrument cluster.

This is why engine RPM should be verified using diagnostic data before attempting idle adjustments or replacing unnecessary components.

Nissan AD Wagon Y11 QG15DE | Loss of Power – P0335, Low Fuel Pressure & Timing

This Nissan AD Wagon Y11 with the QG15DE electronic throttle engine was presented with a complaint of loss of power during acceleration.

Diagnostic scanning revealed:
• P0335 – Crankshaft Position Sensor/Circuit

Fuel Pressure Testing:
• Measured – approximately 35 PSI
• Specification – approximately 50 PSI
Fuel pressure was significantly below the expected specification.

Camshaft/crankshaft correlation testing also identified the intake camshaft approximately 5° RE****ED, equivalent to approximately one tooth.

Additionally, the camshaft position sensor produced intermittent erratic signals during testing.

Exhaust testing did not identify a restriction.

The objective is to identify and correct the faults through testing rather than unnecessarily replacing components.
