A Saudi billionaire quietly chose to stop being a billionaire.

Sulaiman bin Abdul Aziz Al Rajhi, now 96, is the co founder of Al Rajhi Bank, one of the largest Islamic banks in the world. Over the course of his life he deliberately transferred almost all of his personal fortune into charitable endowments.

Through the Sulaiman Al Rajhi Foundation he has donated an estimated $16 billion to education, healthcare, social welfare, agriculture, and community projects. Because this wealth is no longer personally owned, he no longer appears on billionaire lists.

This was not a business loss or a scandal. It was a conscious decision. The assets were placed into long term charitable trusts so they continue generating income for good rather than being spent once.

What stands out is not just the scale, but the intention. He believed wealth should serve society, especially later in life, and he chose to live modestly while his assets worked for others.

In a world obsessed with accumulating more, his story is a reminder that giving it away can be the final measure of success.
