For the past 15 years, Source Solutions International has been making a name for itself in the bicycle industry. Now the company is moving into a brand new 1,650 M2 (17,750 ft2 ) office building and warehouse in Taichung, in the heart Taiwan’s high end bicycle manufacturing center. Under the leadership of general manager, Jennifer Hung, Source Solutions International (SSI) has grown a reputation
for cultivating long term partnerships with their clients and for helping them grow and succeed. For that reason, Source Solutions also wants to expand and keep in step with their partners. Source Solutions’ involvement in the European and North American markets is not limited to bicycles. The company is also involved in the production of a variety of parts such as for motorcycles and snowmobiles. Due to the steady increase in business over the years, the previous facilities were no longer sufficient. In addition to the upgraded warehouse and office, the new building boasts private offices and a testing room at the convenience of their customers while in Taiwan. One section of the building serves as the Asian office of well-known German certification company EFBE. While anyone can have products tested at EFBE’s lab in Taichung, it makes a very convenient location for the clients of Source Solutions. In the past, trading companies could succeed by simply being able to communicate with customers. Now, with the language barrier being overcome, trading companies must find their own way to offer a unique, specialized, high end service and Source Solutions has done just that. Hung notes that their responsibilities extend far beyond filling orders. They are able to guide their customers with expertise throughout every step of the process from design, quality control, shipping, and after sales service. To this end, it has adopted the motto, “Your office in Asia,” providing customers with the peace of mind that their projects are constantly moving forward. To keep above of the competition, Source Solutions is working on implementing a comprehensive online ERP system that will allow customers the ability to check on the status of their projects at any time. Another step towards fulfilling their commitment to customer service was obtaining their ISO-9001 certification, a rare achievement for a trading company. On the decision to pursue ISO certification, Hung says, “Having grown from 2 to 20 people, document management is more challenging, as is how to best train new employees in an effective and efficient manner.” She adds that ISO also helps Source Solutions find strategies for improving communication with customers, resolve challenges, strengthen employee knowledge, develop an information database, and integrate intra-office communication. To further highlight the differences between Source Solutions and other trading companies, Ms. Hung emphasizes their philosophy of approaching every case from the customer’s perspective. “We are all consumers at some level, so we dedicate ourselves to understanding our customer’s demand for high quality products and we commit ourselves to delivering that.” Source Solutions is highly selective in choosing the suppliers they partner with. They do yearly reviews of those companies, help them carry out self-evaluations, IQC assessments, and making sure they keep detailed records of each step of the manufacturing process. Quality control representatives from SSI are constantly visiting these suppliers and performing comprehensive product inspections and paying careful attention throughout every stage of production. Hung proudly comments, “If you’re looking for a reliable supplier in Asia, we are your solution.”
From their upgraded facility, Source Solutions not only wants to continue their level of customer service, but also assist in the development of their clients by carrying out R&D of new parts and even investing in the companies themselves. In addition, SSI is currently managing two of their own brands in the BMX race market—Staats and Ciari. The former is a line of high end BMX race frames and complete bikes, and the latter is a complete line of BMX race components, including the market-leading carbon BMX race fork, the Victor I. These two brands allow Source Solutions to participate in the exciting Olympic sport of BMX race while providing a platform for the company to showcase their ability to design, produce, and market stimulating bicycle parts.
