WXY is a Taiwan-based, gender-neutral footwear label founded by designer Xin-Yu (Joi) Weng. The name “WXY” derives from the XX/XY sex-determination system, reimagined as an agender chromosome. It symbolizes a realm without boundaries — creativity, independent thought, and a transcendence of gender and societal norms. Rooted in the philosophy of Reverence for Life, WXY’s collections weave gra

titude for the Earth’s resources with a documentary-like reflection on the societal issues of our time. Each creation becomes a lens through which cultural currents are observed and interpreted — not as accessories, but as experimental objects exploring form, material, and conceptual narrative. By reworking familiar, everyday materials, WXY transforms the ordinary into profound narratives. This boundary-pushing approach allows the brand to examine and reflect upon social phenomena, offering a thought-provoking perspective on our shared future. WXY的設計主題每季或每年都以全球各種社會問題和議題為靈感,紀錄環境和社會。我們希望通過設計側寫社會問題的聲音,就像記者揭示存在已久但長期被忽視的社會問題一樣,我們寫的既是旁觀者也是親歷者,提供不同的觀點的切入敘事,開放地討論每個選擇,並尋求溝通和解決問題的方法。

我們希望藉由每年的設計紀錄世界變化與社會議題變動
讓這些議題被注視到,雖然我們的影響力可能有限,
但我們相信每一次努力都很重要,
而且我們永遠不知道我們可能會激勵或影響誰。

Concepts and Filming of the Three-Part Video("Check out", "Second life", "Life goes on") and Product Design

Although the description in this video treatment of the issues was somewhat superficial, the underlying themes of these three concepts are rooted in significant and profound social issues. We aim to document and bring attention to these issues through our seasonal designs, focusing on themes related to the environment, life, and death.

While our influence may be limited, we believe that every effort counts and that we never know who we may inspire or influence.

We are grateful to the Cultural Bureau of Kinmen County for providing us with the opportunity to document our filming process and share our ideas. We thank our team and everyone who contributed to the completion of this project.

“Life Goes On”

The world has been shrouded in covid and war in recent years, and the concept of death is vague and confusing for everyone. Death is a random fact; grief changes shape but it never ends, even though, in a stagnant and chaotic world, life has to go on.

The film starts with a person who was left behind.
She wants to know what's beneath by falling into different spaces, from a room to a fortress and then the sea, which reflects the subconscious, preconscious, and conscious, through garbled "numbers" from her hand that break the linear boundaries of time and space.

After pursuing an unknown guide (a black outfit) through the "calendar" and "invoice" that represent "her" (the model's) daily record, entering the ocean that connects the present and eternal worlds, and realizing that this is a process of accepting death and leaving, she guided the final journey on the dark road.

"Second life" Workshop
WXY x Kinmen Kinku Kaishiuan Primary School

去年在暑假八月時與金門開瑄國小合作的回收再製的小營隊,非常感謝開瑄國小願意提供這個機會讓我們與小朋友互動,利用皮革和塑膠邊腳材或廢棄物的再利用課程,把這個循環的概念以一些實作課程融入生活日常,藉此提起小朋友的好奇、興趣與創意,雖然這是一個在平常不過的小工坊,但希望有在孩子們記憶中種下一顆循環的種子,這也是這個小活動的目標所在。

但這也是WXY第一次辦,一定會有不足或缺失之處,我們都會一一記錄修正等待下次機會的到來,也謝謝開瑄老師小朋友與皮件老師的諒解,再次感謝你們!

Inspired by "Second Life Toys," which is an ad for organ donation in J*pan, we try to reuse every part of unsold inventory. In some cases, dead stocks that are damaged, defective, or cannot be sold for other reasons could regenerate as a new product with quality, beauty, and reuse.

The burning shoes connect the lifeless dunes and the peeling model, which reflects the dead inventory situation. Through the prosperous newborn fields and turning everything into a new life, which idea taken from the burning of the twigs after harvesting crops in the fields becomes Nutrients for the earth, re-sow new life, and all have a chance to regain a second life.

E-commerce and markets are experiencing an unusual phenomenon. The number of excessive package layers packed determines positive feedback and ratings.
We all know how it could damage our environment.
will be a good way Start with our daily lives and how we shop,
What we choose causes the world to work.

We follow this online shopper, who breaks the peace with a "click," swipes her phone, and shops. Packaging materials arrive with each click, layer by layer: bubble paper; foam; cushion packaging; disposable plastic packaging (tapes) like a tiny product wrapped within larger cardboard boxes.

Until dragged away by an unknown and ends up on the black screen of the phone or computer with a voice, at this moment, the viewer is dragged into and becomes one of them, like each of you and me, we are all the perpetrators. till the end, still, no one knows where the online shopaholic, excessive packaging, and viewers are.
