It was a pleasure to welcome a delegation from the Japan Convention Management Association (JCMA) to Taipei this week.
The delegation was led by Makoto Batori, Director of JCMA, and included representatives from PACIFICO Yokohama and Grand Cube Osaka (Osaka International Convention Center) — two of Japan’s leading convention venues.
This exchange was arranged by Jason Yeh, CEO of GIS Group, with the goal of strengthening professional connections and fostering future collaboration between the MICE industries of Taiwan and Japan.
JCMA is one of Japan’s key industry associations in the meetings and conventions sector, with over 280 member organizations across the MICE ecosystem, including convention venues, PCOs, exhibition designers, hotels, IT providers, and interpretation services.
Special thanks to
Lily Su, Director of Taipei International Convention Center, and the MeetTaiwan team for designing a thoughtful meeting experience, and to Chia-Hsien Yang, Section Chief of the International Trade Administration (MOEA) for delivering the opening remarks.
During the session, five convention centers from Taiwan and Japan shared their initiatives and achievements in energy efficiency, carbon reduction, and sustainable venue operations.
The discussion became particularly engaging during the Q&A session, where experts from ITRI (Industrial Technology Research Institute) joined the dialogue, creating a dynamic exchange among industry, government, and academia.
This meaningful interaction once again highlights the important role of the MICE industry in driving collaboration, innovation, and sustainability across cities and countries.
We look forward to further strengthening Taiwan–Japan cooperation in the global meetings industry.
