Companies all wanted to strengthen their customers' user experience by prediction from machine learning. Many failed to do so not because they don't predict but several barrier are up front. Obtaining enough training data for machine to learn is one and consumers may willingly provide personal data if they perceive a benefit from providing. Periodically updating training data for the ever-changing usage environment is the other and creating faster feedback loop with new technology can help. Poor prediction quality is another. Identifying and secure alternate data sources and differentiating the predictions can let the latecomers catch up with the competition.
