目前我國既有之建築物約佔整體建築物的97％，因此，既有建築物更是智慧建築重要的推廣對象。為有效推廣智慧建築理念，本計畫以我國現行智慧建築評估基準為基礎，針對安全監控、健康照護、便利舒適、永續節能等專業領域，邀集專家學者組織審查委員會，提供既有建築物智慧化之諮詢、輔導、申請、審查、勘驗、查核等服務。經審查委員會選定補助之建築物，將給予適當獎助額，以獎勵國內積極發展智慧建築，帶動智慧化技術研發與整合，促使經濟發展及提升既有建築物之生活環境品質，並進一步創造優質產業，整合開創更具競爭力的技術及產品，藉以打造更優質的居住環境，提昇國家整體競爭力。
