Happy World Standards Day. 🌍
Liveness detection, or presentation attack detection (PAD), helps a fingerprint system tell a real finger from an artificial one. But how is it actually tested?
That's what ISO/IEC 30107-3 covers. It doesn't guarantee security on its own. It gives the industry a common way to design a PAD evaluation, document the attacks used, and report the results.
Two metrics sit at the heart of every report:
→ APCER: how often attack presentations are classified as genuine
→ BPCER: how often genuine presentations are classified as attacks
They're best read together, at the same threshold, because tightening one usually moves the other.
If you're planning an identity program, such as national ID enrollment, border control or banking KYC, swipe through for five questions worth asking when you review a PAD test report.
At iMD, we believe clear standards make better identity programs for everyone.
