Cultivating Creative Genius

According to Stephan Wiedner (founder of www.noomii.com), the three elements needed to build creative genius in the workplace are curiosity, outward thinking and positivity.

Curiosity - This is one ingredient that nearly all creative geniuses have in common. Albert Einstein once wrote, “I have no special talents. I am only passionately curious”.
Outward Thinking – most successful teams embrace outside points of view. So rather than focusing on themselves, they tend to shift their attention outward, enhancing their own work by collaborating and studying what others are doing.
Positivity – Recent research shows that happiness in the workplace causes people to work harder and be more productive. What’s more, another study found that people are more creative when they feel happy and intrinsically motivated.

The last element above, positivity, is a big one for me. David Logan, Ph.D. and author of ‘Tribal Leadership“, points out that great teams move from thinking “I’m great” to “We’re great,” ultimately reaching the level of “Life is great.” This positive outlook broadens your point of view and enhances your creative problem-solving abilities.
Some tactics to consider in cultivating creative genius within your teams include lunch-and-learn events, investing in coaching for your employees, shaking up your meeting agendas (with positive news at the get-go) and engaging your employees by encouraging them for their input.

Go The Extra Mile

Doing more than what is required of you can be very rewarding and fulfilling.

Want to be noticed and appreciated? Go the extra mile.

Want to make yourself an integral part of your work environment? Go the extra mile.

Want to make your life count? Go the extra mile.

One of the more compelling attributes about the ‘extra mile’ was well expressed by the late, Zig Ziglar, one of America’s great motivational speakers.

He said, “There are no traffic jams on the extra mile”.
