WAJIBU – Institute of Public Accountability is looking for an Advocacy and Engagement Officer (AEO) to join our Zanzibar Office.

The AEO will lead advocacy and stakeholder engagement efforts, building strong partnerships with government institutions, CSOs, media, academia, and the private sector to advance WAJIBU’s programs and accountability agenda in Zanzibar.

Today, WAJIBU had an honour of hosting Ms. Anna Bwana, Executive director of Twaweza East Africa at our offices.

We had an engaging discussion, exchanging experiences and reflecting on the Public Financial Accountability agenda. Together we explored ways to strengthen our partnership in the near future with a focus on increasing citizen participation in development agenda and amplifying their voices for greater impact.

Meet the Champion of Accountability!

WAJIBU proudly congratulates Samuel I. Alfred from the University of Dar es Salaam (LL.M student), the winner of the 2025 Essay Competition 🏆.

His outstanding essay emerged #1 out of 120 submissions from 11 higher learning institutions, reflecting on the theme:
“The Role of Public Accountability in the Proper Management of Public Resources: What is the Youth’s Contribution in this Endeavor?”

The award was officially announced on 14th August 2025 during the Youth Accountability Initiative Forum (YAIF) held at Point Zone Resort, Arusha.
